Book Blurb:

Ten years ago, Emma Malloy fled Dublin for Boston as a battered woman, escaping the husband who scarred her beautiful face. The physical and emotional wounds have faded with time, and her life is finally full of purpose and free from the pain of her past. But when she falls for her friend Charity's handsome and charming brother, Sean O'Connor, fear and shame threaten to destroy her. Could Sean and Emma ever have a future together? Or is Emma doomed to live out the rest of her life denying the only true love she's ever known?

Filled with intense passion and longing, deception and revelation, A Heart Revealed will hold readers in its grip until the very last page.

My Review:

Another Lessman classic! I absolutely loved Emma’s story… I’ve been rooting for her since meeting her in Charity’s story (A Passion Redeemed.) And this book took Sean, the other main character, to a whole new level. There were so many sub-stories woven in from the previous books as the author revisited the previous characters through their own, individual marriages and challenges. I’m gonna be heartbroken when this series is over. I really enjoyed this emotional rollercoaster of a story, and I hope you will, too.

My Rating:

5 out of 5 stars!

Book Blurb:

Two Christmas Romance Novellas Set 125 Years Apart

What if you were caught doing something good, but the man you loved didn't see it that way?

The Debutante Queen by Angela Breidenbach ~ 1889 (Helena, MT): Calista Blythe enters the first Miss Snowflake Pageant celebrating Montana statehood to expose the plight of street urchins. But if her hidden indentured orphan is discovered, Calista’s reputation and her budding romance with pageant organizer, Albert Shanahan, could both unravel. Will love or law prevail?

More Than a Tiara by Valerie Comer ~ 2014 (Helena, MT): Marisa Hiller’s interest in competing in Miss Snowflake Pageant for the city of Helena’s 150th anniversary is at zip zero zilch when she discovers the official photographer is Jase Mackie. Can Jase make amends for past mistakes and offer her, not only a tiara, but a partner in her crusade to help needy children and families?

Join us in celebrating Montana's 125th birthday, as well as the 150th birthday of its lovely capitol city, Helena!

My Review:

What a delightful treat! This book contains two utterly enjoyable stories, one set in the past and one set in the present. They were such fun and easy reads. I truly enjoyed myself with these sweet stories. This was the first time I’d read anything by either of these authors, but I’m so glad I did. Loved it, ladies.

Book Blurb:

Twins are supposed to have an unbreakable bond, but Patti and Jamie have serious relationship issues. They haven’t spoken since Jamie ruined Patti’s upcoming nuptials years ago. When a niece she knows nothing about telephones, Patti must unravel the yarn of Jamie’s life and her mysterious disappearance.

Detective Carter Caldwell takes his job seriously, and it's his job to keep Patti and her niece safe. But Patti is determined to help find her sister. As the investigation grows more dangerous, Carter begrudgingly admits the safest place for Patti is at his side.

Each step in their journey leads them closer to the truth but pulls them further down a road filled with danger and deception, where each will battle for survival and the lives of countless Americans.

My Review:

Took me a while to get into the story, but I loved the ending, so to me, it was worth it. The “identical twin masquerading as her sister” concept was interesting to see unfold. It seemed a bit drawn out in places, but overall, it was a good read. The suspense was tight and the story was solid.

Book Blurb:

Rollicking Debut from an Exciting New Author

Lady Eliza Sumner is on a mission. Her fortune was the last thing she had left after losing her father, her fiance, and her faith. Now, masquerading as Miss Eliza Sumner governess-at-large, she's determined to find the man who ran off with her fortune, reclaim the money, and head straight back to London.

Mr. Hamilton Beckett, much to his chagrin, is the catch of the season, and all the eyes of New York society--all the female ones, at least--are on him. He has no plans to marry again, especially since his hands are full keeping his business afloat while raising his two children alone.

Eliza's hapless attempts to regain her fortune unexpectedly put her right in Hamilton's path. The discovery of a common nemesis causes them to join forces and, before she knows it, Eliza has a whole retinue of people helping her. Eliza's determination not to trust anyone weakens when everyone's antics and bumbling efforts to assist her make her wonder if there might be more important things than her fortune and independence.

When all of Hamilton's and Eliza's best-laid plans fall by the wayside, it will take a riot of complications for them to realize that God just might have had a better plan in mind all along.

My Review:

This is the first book I've read by this author, but it won't be the last! I was shocked to discover that by the end of the first chapter, I was hooked! I loved the way that this author dropped her characters in these hilarious situations. All I could do was sit back and enjoy it! So many characters were introduced, but each one was distinct and easy to remember. I can't wait to read the next one in the series! :)

A Vision of Lucy by Margaret Brownley - Review and Giveaway!

Book Description:

Trouble follows Lucy wherever she goes. So does a vision of second chances . . . and love.

Lucy Fairbanks dreams of working as a photographer at the Rocky Creek newspaper. Her deepest hope is that her father will see her as an artist, the way he thought of her deceased mother, whose paintings still hang on their walls.

But disaster follows Lucy on every photo assignment: a mess of petticoats and ribbons, an accidental shooting, even a fire.

When Lucy meets David Wolf—a rugged, reclusive man who lives on the outskirts of town—she thinks she can catch the attention of the town with his photograph. She doesn't count on her feelings stirring whenever she's near him.

Two things happen next that forever change the course of Lucy's life. But will these events draw her closer to God or push her further away? And how will David accept this new vision of Lucy?

My Review:

I absolutely loved this book. I loved the main characters and all the vibrant supporting characters as well as the mystery. I'm so glad that I stumbled upon this author. This was my first book of hers, but it won't be my last. Well done!

I think this is the third book in the series, but it didn't feel like I was coming in at the end. I'm looking forward to go back and read the first two.

September Author Newsletter

Life Stuff:

Wow, it’s hard to believe that summer is almost over! August has been a great month for us here in the Hurtt household. We got a new (to us) car that we both love. Ryan took two weeks of leave and we had a wonderful time catching up on some old projects, starting new ones, and just spending time together. I’d forgotten how important it is to be thankful for the little things, but last month was a great refresher course. J

We are on a health and exercise kick this month, so hopefully we will have some good news to report back to you next month. We’ve lost weight in the past by following the Trim Healthy Mama diet plan, so we will be doing that this month, as well as adding exercise in. That’s gonna be tough on this chocoholic couch potato, but our health is worth the sacrifice.

So, what’s up with you this month?

Writing Stuff:

I surpassed last month’s goal of adding 10,000 words, but this Rio novella isn’t done yet. I’m still up to my eyeballs in “Romance in Rio” (working title) and am closing in on the elusive Happily Ever After. It’s been a long journey, but I will prevail! New goals for September include:

*Adding 10,000 more words

* Editing it from beginning to end at least once

*Lots of Research

Wish me luck, friends!

Reading Stuff:

Here's the list of books I finished this month:

How about you? What are you currently reading?

Prayer Request Stuff:

Mike W.'s heart problems are doing better.

Ryan's and my car issue has been resolved.

Tori H.'s head injury is healing well.

My dad's doctor lowered my dad's medicine, so he hasn't been as dizzy lately.

Thank you, Lord!

Prayer Requests:

Polly P. - her husband passed away this week.

Ryan and I - fighting allergies and a cold over the last week.

Melody D. - missionary in Nicaragua

My family - safety as they travel and sing

Heidi T. - a friend going through chemo right now, prayers for her family requested, too.

Please feel free to message your prayer requests to me and I'll add them to the list. God bless you, prayer warriors. Thank you for what you do.
