Author Mini-view:

Hello, blog friends! This week, I'm featuring the lovely Carole Brown and her book "With Music In Their Hearts." Let's get this interview started!

Tell us a bit about yourself and your writing. How did you get started?

I began writing as early as my elementary years, beginning with a caveman’s journal of a week in his life. That, and a steady diet of books--particularly mysteries and suspense, created a desire to write. Once I realized God had given me a special talent, and decided to pursue authorship, I never looked back. What a blessing it’s been.

How many books have you written?

I just released my fourth novel in August 2015: the second book in my Denton and Alex Davies mysteries, called: Bat Crazy. These are fun and lighthearted books about an early-retired couple who travel in their RV with their pet dog, Taffy, and end of right in the midst of a mystery plot. It can be found on my Amazon page.
Late November of this year, Sabotaged Christmas, the first book of the Appleton, WV romantic mysteries, will release. The Italian owner of the DeLuca Construction company is faced with sudden doubts about her late father’s honesty. Combine that with the threats to her business, she wonders if the new man in town--a history professor/author, Perrin Douglas--is behind it all. Pink notes, blue eyes, and a secret history and will has Toni DeLuca wondering who in Appleton, WV she can trust. Certainly not Perrin.
Next year, I’m looking forward to releasing THREE books. So excited.

Where are you in your writing journey?

Now that I can modestly say I’ve seen four of my novels published, with the fifth releasing next month, I feel I can say I’ve learned a lot in the last two years. It’s been a busy, crazy few months, but I’ve loved it. I’ve developed a nice pattern for me, in what works and what doesn’t; I’m comfortable and happy in the genre that fits me. I have two great critique partners, wonderful editors, and developed my own personal style of writing that fits.
I’m looking forward to working on my next novels for my readers.

What is your favorite Bible verse?

My favorite chapter is found in Psalm 91. I love the assurances of God that he will fight for me, be strong for me, and help me to be so too. I love how he comforts and the promises he makes to those who trust in him.

What have you read lately that you would recommend?

There are so many I love! Tamera Kraft’s A Soldier’s Heart is a wonderful historical novel. Linda Rondeau is an experienced and prolific author. Do check out her novels on her Amazon author page. Mary Ellis’s book, Mississippi Nights is a great suspense novel. The way I hear it, it’s her first suspense, although she’s quite talented in writing Amish and historical novels.

What book are you featuring today?

With Music in Their Hearts is the first book in my WWII Spies suspense series. It’s a heartwarming novel of the eldest of three red-headed sisters. Here’s the blurb:

Angry at being rejected for military service, Minister Tyrell Walker accepts the call to serve as a civilian spy within his own country. Across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio, a spy working for a foreign country is stealing secret plans for newly developed ammunition to be used in the war. According to his FBI cousin, this spy favors pink stationery giving strong indications that a woman is involved.

He’s instructed to obtain a room in the Rayner Boarding House run by the lovely, spunky red-haired Emma Jaine Rayner. Sparks of jealousy and love fly between them immediately even as they battle suspicions that one or the other is not on the up and up.

While Tyrell searches for the murdering spy who reaches even into the boarding home, Emma Jaine struggles with an annoying renter, a worried father (who could be involved in this spy thing), and two younger sisters who are very different but just as strong willed as she is.

As Tyrell works to keep his double life a secret and locate the traitor, he refuses to believe that Emma Jaine could be involved even when he sees a red-haired woman in the arms of another man. Could the handsome and svelte banker who’s also determined to win Emma Jaine’s hand for marriage, be the dangerous man he’s looking for? Is the trouble-making renter who hassles Emma Jaine serving as a flunky? Worse, is Papa Rayner so worried about his finances and keeping his girls in the style they’re used to, that he’ll stoop to espionage?

Will their love survive the danger and personal issues that arise to hinder the path of true love?

A Flute in the Willows is scheduled for release in the spring of 2016. It’s the second book in this series and features Josie Rayner Patterson, the rebel of the sisters and a serious hopeful for the Figure Skating Olympics--if the war ever ends. She and her heartthrob of a husband join together to stop a German Spy from destroying . . . Like I said, the book will be out soon! Look for it. ☺

If you could tell people who are going to read/have read your books one thing, what would it be?

My books are filled with romance, hope, real life issues, a bit of whimsy and sometimes comedy, but always suspense. Whether light touches of inspiration or heavier ones, they are uplifting and inspiring always. Faith in God and hope for eternity and downright enjoyment for a few hours of relaxation will hopefully have you waiting for another Brown novel. Feel free to check out my books on Amazon, and do follow me on any of my social links. If you’re interested in hearing early on and now and then about new novels releasing, do let me know. Thanks so much for reading. Love new friends.
