Writing Stuff:

I haven't had a ton of spare time, but I've been taking James Patterson's MasterClass over the past month. It's very informative and I've been enjoying it. I'm still writing when I can.

Thanks so much for your prayers, friends.

Bible Reading Stuff:

Over the last month, I have been working through the Bible study "12 Women of the Bible" by Lysa TerKeurst and multiple other authors. I've really enjoyed it. :)

(Over the last year, I've been reading randomly selected books of the Bible using Random.org to pick a number. Saving gas $ and I can do it in my PJs if I want. ;) Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes. Life Stuff/Writing  Stuff:

Hello, my lovely blog subscribers! Happy New Year! I hope it finds you doing well. This will be a slightly abbreviated version of the monthly  author newsletter, but just wanted to give you guys a quick update. Also, I wanted to thank everyone who commented on December's author post. I didn't get to answer all the comments, but thank you so very much for sharing pieces of your holidays, thoughts, and reading lists with me! :)

Hubbins and I (and the dogs) spent Christmas week with my parents, brother, and niece in Tennessee, and we had so much fun! Life has been getting busy for me again now that the holidays are over. I'm working more hours at my new job in order to pay off some credit card debt before Hubbins gets out of the military later this year. Prayers are definitely appreciated as we figure out what we are supposed to do in this next season of our lives.

In the writing world, I'm getting back to the edit/rewrite for my work-in-progress, "Hazardous Conditions," which had to take a back seat for the past few months. Again, prayers are always appreciated, especially in the time management area. :P

How about you? How were your holidays? What's new in your lives?

Reading Stuff:

Here's my reading list from last month. Did you have time to read over the holidays?

And I'm currently reading:

Happy December!

Hello, blog friends! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season so far. It's still in the 70s here in sunny FL (not that I'm complaining LOL), but the Christmas spirit is definitely taking hold here. Hubbins and I are going shopping for our first Christmas tree soon and I'm so excited about it! :D

Even though we were unable to spend time with our families for Thanksgiving, we had a wonderful day nonetheless, with lots of food, fun, and happy memories.

The picture above is my first handmade Christmas decoration. I had the opportunity to go to a paint party with my Ladies Bible Study from the Chapel. So fun! :)

How was your Thanksgiving?

Writing Stuff:

Last month was crazy busy with settling into my new job, but now that it is leveling out, I am once again working on edits for "Hazardous Conditions." I'm really eager to have this baby finished and on the way to the editors once again! :)

Here's a list of what I read during October and November. What have you been reading?

Bible Stuff:

In October, I decided to put a new section in the newsletter each month. I don't know about you, but sometimes I need some accountability when it comes to reading my Bible. Sometimes, I get so scatterbrained that I'll be in bed to go to sleep for the night and realize that I forgot to have a daily quiet time. So, I'll be posting here what I've been reading. :)

I've been using the Bible app on my iPhone to read to me during the day, usually during housework or other tasks. This month, I've listened to the last half of 1st Timothy and most of 1st Kings. I'm also halfway through the devotional book "Children of the Day" by Beth Moore.

How about you? What have you been reading?

Last Month's Winners:

Here is the list of last month's winners:

Voice in the Wilderness by Harry Wegley: Ann Badder*

For Our Good by Paula Mowery: Sonja Nishimoto*

And there's still one more day to enter my giveaway for The Art of Losing Yourself by Katie Ganshert, so be sure to check it out!

Hello, wonderful blog family! Whether you read this today or sometime over the next few days or next week after you've enjoyed some good food and family fun, I just want you to know how thankful I am for you guys. I am so thankful for your support, your friendship, and your patience when life gets crazy and I don't blog as often as I should. It means the world to me... Truly. :)

The Hubbins and I are having Thanksgiving here at home this year due to work constraints. While I miss joining my family this year, we're both excited to begin some of our own traditions for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year.

I'll be posting a review of a book that I loved here in just a moment, but until then, I have a question or two...

What's your favorite Thanksgiving dish? You know, the one you look forward to all year long. :)
What are you most thankful for this year?

God bless and have a wonderfully blessed Thanksgiving! :D

Life Stuff:

Happy October! I hope you are all doing well this month!

It has cooled down to the 60's here in sunny FL. Because of the cooler weather, Hubbins and I have spent more time at the beach, walking during the evenings. I absolutely love the scenery here, so I wanted to share a few pics of our walks together. Hope y'all don't mind. :)

How was your September?

Writing Stuff:

I haven't had a bunch of spare time over the last month, but I am still working on the revision request I got back from the Blurb 2 Book pitch. Also, I'm editing a book for a friend, so my writing plate is quite full this month. :)

Sometimes, I get so scatterbrained that I'll be in bed to go to sleep for the night and realize that I forgot to have a daily quiet time. So, I'll be posting here what I've been reading. :)

Last week, I made an exciting discovery. The Bible app that I have on my smartphone will read the Bible to you! This is terribly exciting to me, because while I don't always have time to sit down and read, I can pull up the app and listen to a chapter or two while I'm doing housework or writing up a blog post. :)

Since I made that discovery, I've listened to Philippians and now I'm 3 chapters into 1st Timothy. What are you reading/listening to this month? :)

Life Stuff:

Hello, my lovely friends! :) I hope everyone is having a wonderful month so far. Even here in Florida, I can feel the grip of summer beginning to lose it's hot and humid hold. We even had a night in the 70s this month... It was glorious. (Hey, don't laugh, northern folks, that's progress here! LOL)

All in all, August was a great month. Both the Hubbins and I had birthdays this month, so we've had a great time celebrating with each other. On my birthday, which was the 17th, he surprised me by coming home on his lunch break with flowers, a gloriously-decadent chocolate cake, and the news that he had the rest of the day off to spend with me. It was an awesome day. :)

How was your August?

Writing Stuff:

Well, I heard back from one of the editors on my Blurb to Book manuscript, Hazardous Conditions. In a nutshell, she said that she really liked the story but it needed some fixes before she could offer a contract on it. She sent along a list of revisions and a request to re-submit, so that's what I'll be working on this month. This is the best feedback I've gotten thus far in my writing career, so I'm super excited about it! :D I'd definitely appreciate your prayers as I navigate the self-editing waters once again.

Life Stuff:

Hello, wonderful blog subscribers! Can you believe it is August already? It seems like June was just yesterday! But... I digress.  Hopefully, everyone is staying cool out there. Here in Panama City, it's been HOT!  And the humidity? Ugh! Makes me thankful for air conditioning, let me tell ya. But again, I digress. :)

I'm so glad to be getting things back to normal at the Hurtt household. That deadline last month really threw me for a loop, but thank goodness that's done with for now. How have you been the past few months?

One thing that's new for us this month is we have added another member to the Hurtt Herd. (And it really is starting to be a herd around here. LOL) Last month, the Hubbins decided he wanted a man's dog, so I'm thrilled to introduce Berlynn. (see picture below)

Berlynn is a two-year-old German Shepherd that we rescued from the local pound. She has fit in quite nicely with our family and is especially fond of/fascinated with BlackJack the cat.

Victory!

Oh. My. Goodness. Guys.

I sent in my Blurb To Book submission yesterday afternoon (with about 10 minutes to spare), but that puppy is finished! The finished manuscript of Hazardous Conditions is now in the hands of the Love Inspired Editors, for better or for worse. It was a race to get the end written in time... I ended up writing the last two chapters and epilogue yesterday, but it is finished. :)

I just wanted to take a moment and thank you all for your patience and encouragement over the last few months. Y'all are amazing! :) I also want to send out a huge thank-you to the authors who stepped in with the giveaways and author interviews to fill these weekly posts. Without these awesome people, I never would have finished the book in time. So, thank you, authors!

I'll have a real update post when August rolls around, but for now, I'm going to relax, read a book from my towering review pile, and have some celebration chocolate.

P.S. Be sure to check out this week's author mini-view and giveaway... It's gonna be awesome!
