Chapter 617: A Final Worth Watching
Chapter 617: A Final Worth Watching
The next day, the tournament site was more crowded than ever before.
The final had arrived.
Ships filled the docking zones like swarms of metal birds. Floating screens covered the sky, replaying Dahlia and Kaelvar’s previous battles again and again.
Merchants shouted loudly from every street, faction scouts filled the private districts, and countless spectators pushed toward the arena entrances.
Everywhere, people were talking about the same match.
God Gym’s Dragon.
Against...
The Ignis Family’s Flame Dragon.
Inside the participant area, Dahlia had already gone ahead to prepare.
Meanwhile, Garion and Alira walked through the VIP corridor toward their private viewing room like usual.
Garion looked around and grinned. "Damn. It’s even more packed than yesterday."
Alira nodded calmly. "Of course. This is the final. And because of God Gym’s recent attention, the broadcast ranking has reached one of the highest points this tournament has ever had."
Garion’s grin widened. "Good. Then Dahlia has a bigger stage."
Just as they were about to enter their room, a calm voice suddenly came from the side. "Sir Garion. Miss Alira."
Garion stopped and turned his head.
Not far away, the dragon elder from yesterday stood with his hands behind his back.
His crimson hair was neatly tied, and his golden eyes carried the calm pressure of an experienced dragon cultivator.
Alira’s expression became slightly more formal.
Garion only raised an eyebrow. "Oh? You again."
The elder smiled faintly, ignoring Garion’s casual tone. "Since today is the final, why don’t you both join me in my viewing room?"
Garion looked at him silently for a moment.
The elder continued calmly, "After all, your disciple and my family’s junior will be fighting for the championship. It would be more fitting for us to watch from the same place."
Alira glanced at Garion.
She could tell this was not just a simple invitation.
The elder probably wanted to observe Garion more closely.
Maybe even pressure him a little.
But Garion only grinned. "Oh?"
He shoved both hands into his pockets and looked directly at the elder. "Watching together, huh?"
The elder nodded. "Yes."
Garion’s grin became even wider. "Sure."
Alira turned toward him slightly. "Garion?"
Garion laughed. "What? It sounds fun."
Then he looked back at the elder with a shameless smile. "Besides, if Dahlia beats your junior, I want to see your face up close."
The elder’s smile stiffened slightly.
Alira quietly sighed.
As expected, Garion really couldn’t avoid provoking people.
But the elder quickly regained his calm expression. "Very well."
He turned around slowly. "Then please follow me."
Garion walked after him casually, still grinning as the roar of the final crowd echoed through the corridor. "Good."
His eyes shone with amusement. "Let’s watch the show together."
As Garion and Alira followed the Ignis elder deeper into the VIP corridor, two figures slowly appeared from behind a nearby pillar.
Slifera and Elisa.
Both of them had arrived just in time to see Garion accept the elder’s invitation.
Slifera stared at their backs silently for a moment.
Then his mouth twitched. "...Nope."
Elisa glanced at him. "You don’t want to follow?"
Slifera immediately shook his head. "Of course not."
He pointed toward the direction Garion had gone. "That’s the freaking Ignis elder."
Elisa looked thoughtful. "He is definitely not someone ordinary participants should casually approach."
Slifera crossed his arms. "Exactly. I’m already uncomfortable enough dealing with Silverian main-line idiots. I don’t need to sit in the same room as a high-ranking dragon elder too."
Elisa nodded calmly. "That is reasonable."
Slifera sighed. "Besides, Garion can handle that kind of pressure better than us."
Elisa’s silver eyes looked toward the corridor where Garion had disappeared. "More like he enjoys it."
Slifera’s mouth twitched again. "That’s worse."
For a moment, both of them stood there quietly.
The distant roar of the arena crowd echoed through the walls as the final match drew closer.
Then Elisa finally spoke. "So what now?"
Slifera thought for a second before turning around. "Let’s watch with Rovak."
Elisa raised an eyebrow. "In the medical bay?"
Slifera nodded. "Yeah. That idiot is probably awake by now."
Elisa sighed softly, but a faint smile appeared on her face. "That does sound better than sitting with the Ignis elder."
Slifera immediately started walking. "Exactly. Injured Rovak is annoying, but at least he’s our annoying problem."
Elisa followed beside him.
A few minutes later, they arrived at the medical bay.
The moment the door opened, Rovak’s loud voice echoed out. "Hahaha! You two came!"
Slifera looked inside and saw Rovak lying on a recovery bed, his body wrapped in healing bandages while dark-red energy flickered faintly around him.
Despite looking half-broken, Rovak was grinning like he had just won a festival prize.
Slifera sighed deeply. "Yeah. Somehow, this is still better than sitting with a dragon elder."
Rovak blinked. "What?"
Elisa smiled faintly and sat down nearby. "The final is about to start."
Rovak’s eyes immediately lit up. "Good!"
He forced himself upright despite the healer beside him glaring at him. "Turn on the screen! I need to watch little dragon win this!"
---
The entire arena suddenly darkened.
Then thousands of lights flashed across the sky at once.
The announcer’s voice exploded through the tournament site.
"Ladies and gentlemen!"
"After countless battles, after brutal eliminations, after shocking upsets and unbelievable displays of power..."
"Only two fighters remain!"
The crowd roared so loudly that the arena itself seemed to tremble.
The giant holographic screen lit up.
[Newbie Tournament - Final Match]
[Dahlia Draconia]
[Representative: God Gym]
[VS]
[Kaelvar Ignis]
[Ignis Family - Flame Dragon Clan]
The announcer continued, voice filled with excitement.
"On one side, the mysterious Disaster Dragon from God Gym! A fighter who crushed every opponent with overwhelming confidence!"
"And on the other side, the proud flame dragon of the Ignis Family! A genius carrying one of the most powerful dragon flame inheritances!"
Fireworks of energy exploded above the arena.
"Dragon versus dragon!"
"Storm versus flame!"
"God Gym versus Ignis!"
The crowd screamed even louder.
"Now..."
The arena gates slowly opened.
"Let the final begin!"
