Chapter 35 Encounter
Chapter 35 Encounter
Amidst the vine-covered mountains, a pink figure moved about, her fox mask adorned with a pink bow standing out brightly in the darkness.
"Eat her!"
"Finally, there are living people to eat again!"
Two fanged demons perched on a tree branch, watching the figure with greedy smiles on their faces.
But as they pounced on the pink figure, a soft shout came from beneath the mask.
"Water Breathing - Fourth Form - Tide Rising!"
Before he finished speaking, Mizuko suddenly leaped up and quickly drew her Nichirin Blade from her waist with her right hand.
The azure waves, carrying the blade, flashed past the two evil spirits.
"Pfft—"
Two soft sounds rang out almost simultaneously, and the heads of the two evil spirits instantly separated from their bodies. Their gazes spun around before finally settling on Mi Douzi's straight back.
Mi Douzi sheathed his knife with swift and decisive movements.
She watched the evil spirits gradually turn to ashes on the ground, clasped her hands together, whispered a prayer for them, and then didn't linger.
She turned and ran eastward again, her pink dress quickly disappearing into the deeper woods.
"It seems there are very few people here; no one has been injured or killed. That's great!"
Midouzi looked around and, finding no trace of blood or corpses of the chosen ones, secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
As her pace quickened unconsciously, she was also concerned about Zenitsu's safety.
But just then, a slash carrying pale pink petals suddenly came into her view.
Mi Douzi suddenly stopped in her tracks and turned to look.
In a clearing in the woods not far away, a girl dressed in an exquisite kimono was slowly sheathing her sword.
Her movements were as graceful as a dance, and she wore a standard smile as she quietly watched the evil spirit in front of her turn into ashes.
That last slash, carrying tiny flower petals, swept across the area without disturbing the grass or trees, yet precisely severed the demon's neck.
"Wow, that's amazing! What beautiful swordsmanship!"
Standing behind the tree, Midouzi took in the whole scene and couldn't help but exclaim in amazement.
She could clearly sense that the girl's breathing was frighteningly steady, and the force and rhythm of her knife swings were just right.
He was clearly a seasoned veteran, far more formidable than he appeared.
The girl in the kimono seemed to notice her gaze, and slowly turned around, her eyes landing precisely in the direction of Nezuko. Her smile remained gentle, but carried a hint of aloofness.
However, just as Mizuko was about to speak up, the girl in the kimono merely glanced in her direction.
Then he turned and slowly disappeared into the depths of the dense forest without lingering for even a moment.
"well?"
Midouzi, wearing a fox mask, tilted her head slightly, looking at the empty forest path ahead, and murmured regretfully.
"I was thinking of getting to know you better, how could you just leave like this?"
She sighed softly, but quickly rallied and gripped the Nichirin Blade at her waist.
"Then I'll do my best too!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Midouzi took another step and sped off towards the east.
Along the way, she couldn't help but mutter to herself, as if she were encouraging herself or comforting herself.
"Zenitsu should be alright... Yeah! He'll definitely be alright. I can tell Zenitsu is actually very strong!"
Just then, a piercing scream suddenly came from the distant woods, breaking the silence of the mountains and forests.
"A ghost! Help! Its head can turn 180 degrees—!"
Mi Douzi's steps suddenly stopped, and the hairs on his body stood on end instantly.
She held her breath, her senses working at their peak, quickly pinpointing the direction from which the sound came and the tone of her voice.
The next second, her expression changed drastically, and her heart clenched.
"That's... Zenitsu's voice!"
Ni Douzi was extremely anxious and was about to rush towards the direction of the sound.
Just then, a series of heavy footsteps suddenly came from the dense forest on the left.
Immediately afterwards, a strong smell of blood and a chilling aura rushed towards her, instantly putting her on alert.
She turned her head sharply and saw a huge demon, with heavy steps, chasing after the stumbling and fleeing chosen one.
The demon was burly, with arms as thick as tree trunks, and blood dripping from its claws. With each step it took, the ground seemed to tremble slightly.
"Help...help! Someone please save me!"
The pursued contestant was pale, dressed in rags, and bleeding profusely from a wound on his arm.
Mizuko looked around anxiously, her heart filled with worry. On one side, Zenitsu was in danger, and on the other side, the Selected Ones were right in front of her and needed rescue.
She was momentarily at a loss, unsure which side to go to first.
But just then, the burly demon let out a low roar.
Its thick, tree-trunk-like arms suddenly stretched out, like a nimble giant python, and fiercely grabbed at the stumbling contestant in front of it!
At the critical moment, Nezuko's body reacted before her brain.
She slammed her right foot to the ground, and her body shot out like an arrow, drawing her Nichirin Blade from her waist with her right hand.
"Water Breathing, Third Form: Flowing Dance!"
As the crisp shout fell, Mi Douzi's figure suddenly became incredibly agile, like a winding mountain stream, darting swiftly along the ground.
Her figure left several afterimages in the forest, dodging the demon's claws, while her Nichirin Blade, accompanied by azure waves, precisely slashed at the demon's outstretched arm.
"Click—"
The demon's arm was severed with that sound.
Without pausing, Mi Douzi quickly changed her steps using Liu Liuwu's agile movements, grabbed the limp contestant on the ground, and with a few quick leaps, carried him behind a thick tree.
"How are you? Are you alright?"
"Nian Douzi asked quickly."
"Th...thank you!"
The contestant painfully said thank you and immediately stopped the bleeding.
Seeing that he was alright, Mi Douzi breathed a sigh of relief and slowly walked out of the big tree.
[Zenitsu, hang in there, I'll be right there to help you!]
Mizuko silently said this to herself, then looked at the evil spirit whose body was as large as a hill.
However, just as Mizuko's figure was completely captured by the demon's eyes...
The demon stopped roaring, its murky eyes fixed on the mask on her face, and suddenly spoke, its voice hoarse.
"Huh? That mask on your face... You're Urokodaki Sakonji's disciple, aren't you!"
