45. I’ve Been Wondering About the Taste of Those Lips
As the couple held each other, Katrina and Eva quietly watched from the side. Their eyes filled with a knowing glint as they observed their interaction."Hehe, you see that, Katie? There's definitely something more going on between those two than just a manager-model relationship. The way he got so protective of her and the way she was staring at him. It's like watching a romantic drama." Eva whispered as she tugged on Katrina's arm.
Katrina nodded in agreement while glancing at Jessica and Andrew's intimate pose. "Yeah, I see it too. But whatever it is, it's their own business. We shouldn't pry too much into their private affairs."
"I wasn't going to, of course. I'm just enjoying watching them. It's like seeing a handsome knight protecting his beautiful princess." Eva giggled with a dreamy expression.
Austin, who had been observing everything from a distance, approached them after Thomas had been taken away by the staff.
"Are you okay, Jessica?" Austin asked with genuine concern in his voice. "That man shouldn't have done that to you. I'm sorry I didn't step in sooner."
Jessica broke away from Andrew and turned toward Austin, replying with a bright smile. "Oh, Austin, you don't have to apologize. It's not your fault. You couldn't have known that would happen."
Then she leaned forward and whispered into Austin's ear, "However, if you really want to make me feel better, maybe we can dance together? I still feel a bit shaken, and dancing could help me forget."
Although Austin felt a bit hesitant about dancing with Jessica after seeing Andrew's aggressive reaction toward Thomas, he didn't want to refuse Jessica's request. So, he nodded his head with a slight smile.
"Um, sure, if that's what you want, Jessica."
With that, Jessica took Austin by the hand and led him to the dance floor.
Meanwhile, Andrew watched them go, his expression unreadable, but made no move to stop them.
Eva noticed Andrew's gaze and slid closer to him. "Hey, tough guy. Are you jealous because Jessica is dancing with another man so soon after you defended her honour?"
Andrew blinked, then looked down at Eva with a small smile. "Not at all. She can do whatever she wants. I'm just making sure she's not putting on an act to cover up any lingering shock from earlier."
"Is that so?" Katrina interjected as she stepped beside Andrew. "Well, you're quite the protective type. I have to admit, it's rather attractive when a man stands up for his woman like that."
Her amber eyes glinted with appreciation as she looked Andrew up and down. Then, the very next moment, she reached out and brushed a strand of hair from his forehead.
"You know," she continued, her voice dropping to a more intimate level, "I like a man who knows how to handle himself. Someone who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty when the situation calls for it."
Andrew chuckled at her forwardness and wrapped an arm around her waist. "Is that an invitation, Katie?"
"Maybe," Katrina replied with a playful shrug. "Depends on how the night plays out."
"Hey! Don't forget about me!" Eva whined as she pushed herself between them, pressing her body against Andrew's side. "I was the one who noticed how hot you are first! Doesn't that count for something?"
"Alright, alright, I haven't forgotten you, Eva." Andrew laughed as he slid his other arm around her waist, pulling both women close. "Now, how about we grab another drink? I think we could all use one after that little scene."
As they moved toward the bar, Andrew glanced back at the dance floor, where Jessica was now laughing with Austin, her earlier distress seemingly forgotten. He felt a pang of possessiveness but quickly pushed it aside. After all, they had an understanding, and Jessica was enjoying herself.
When they reached the bar, Andrew ordered three glasses of whiskey for himself and the girls.
Katrina raised an eyebrow at his choice. "Whiskey? You're certainly not a lightweight, are you?"
"I prefer something with a bit of substance. Also helps to take the edge off." Andrew handed each of them their drinks before leaning against the bar, his eyes scanning the room.
The party had resumed its normal flow, with most guests pretending nothing had happened. In the corner, he could see Amy speaking with a few executives, her expression professional but relaxed. She caught his eye for a moment and gave a slight nod before continuing her conversation.
"Andrew, you seem quite comfortable with all this attention," Katrina said, swirling the amber liquid in her glass. "The fight, then having two women in your arms... Are you always this smooth?"
"Haha... No. I wasn't like that before. But I got a lesson not long ago that it is better to take action in any situation instead of getting stuck on worries. Life is too short for that. And regretting things later is painful."
Upon hearing his words, Eva leaned in closer, her purple eyes bright with curiosity. "What lesson was that? Sounds dramatic."
"Just learned that sometimes you have to take what you want, consequences be damned." Andrew shook his head while taking a sip of his whiskey.
"I like that philosophy," Katrina nodded approvingly. "I live by a similar code myself."
Eva giggled at her words. "Of course you do. I know how you just take whatever—or whoever—you want."
Katrina shot Eva a warning look before turning back to Andrew. "Don't listen to her. I'm not that bad."
She then added with a mischievous smile, "Well, not always."
"Speaking of taking what you want..." Andrew's eyes lingered on Katrina's full lips. "I've been wondering something."
"Oh? And what might that be?" Kartrina met Andrew's gaze head-on, unashamed and bold. It was a look that dared him to continue, to say whatever was on his mind.
And Andrew was never one to back down from a challenge.
"I've been wondering whether those lips taste as sweet as they look." His voice dropped to a near-whisper as he leaned closer.
A shiver of anticipation ran down Katrina's spine at his words. She could feel the heat radiating from his body and smell the whiskey on his breath. It was intoxicating.
"There's only one way to find out, Andrew." Katrina licked her lips slowly and deliberately. "But are you brave enough to try?"
