Chapter 1159: Bai Ze’s Methods
This bark was as unsettling as a baby’s cry mingled with ghostly howls, unnerving everyone who heard it, leaving them restless. As the barking ceased, a vile wind attacked from behind Zhuo Geng."Ugh!" Originally preparing to ignore any attacks and forcefully kill Nero, Zhuo Geng suddenly felt a sharp pain in his shoulder. Despite his unparalleled strength, the scales on his shoulder were bitten through. The venom from the canine teeth seeped into his flesh, forcing Zhuo Geng to stop his actions and fight back, groaning in pain.
The shield hanging on his left arm shrank at Zhuo Geng’s will, freeing his hand to grab the vicious beast clamping his left shoulder. He grasped its fur and yanked hard, deepening the shoulder pain as it refused to let go. Furious, the Dragon King roared and exerted his arm strength, yanking it with all his might!
A line of blood sprayed out as the beast’s mouth tore away a chunk of flesh from Zhuo Geng’s shoulder. He picked it up and slammed it into the ground, yet hesitated and paused his raised sword upon seeing the beast’s true face.
Bang! In the brief moment of his hesitation, another giant beast leaped from the side, forcefully crashing into Zhuo Geng, knocking him off balance, saving Nero and the beast.
"Qiongqi, Zhuyan!" Zhuo Geng looked at the fierce beast, face resembling a tiger, size about that of an ox, with wings on its back, then at the ape-like creature with a human face and red feet, exclaiming involuntarily.
Clap, clap, clap! A series of applause echoed from the void. Bai Ze, who had disappeared for some time, clapped and re-entered the battlefield. He bent down, helping the revived Nero, and looked at Zhuo Geng, saying, "Dragon King, impressive of you to recognize these beasts."
"These are recognized as strong among the Daoist Realm’s Beast Race, how could I not? However, I am puzzled about one thing!" Zhuo Geng did not immediately pursue but stepped back for defense, recovering from his shoulder wound as he spoke.
"Please, enlighten me," Bai Ze responded politely.
"Leaving Zhuyan aside, though rare in the Daoist Race now, there’s still dozens of them in the world. But Qiongqi was supposedly extinct during the great battle between our two races from generations ago. Where did you find it? I can feel the Bloodline Power within it, not merely an illusion."
"A connoisseur! It’s a pleasure to meet an opponent who recognizes these divine beasts." Bai Ze said, gesturing for Qiongqi to approach like a domestic dog, submitting to Bai Ze’s touch despite the foul stench from its mouth. He said while stroking its head, "Previously, the versions I summoned were merely source energy illusions. While their combat power was decent, they couldn’t catch the eye of someone as skilled as you. But now, becoming a Child of Origin, my abilities have improved. With the assistance of a Divine Artifact and materials collected by my mentor, this Qiongqi was forged. Incidentally, the Bloodline Power you sensed was extracted from Qiongqi’s skeleton from thirteen ancient battlegrounds excavated under the Dark Race’s guidance. Compared to a real Qiongqi, do you not find it equally strong?"
"You! A Daoist Realm exiled, leading them to excavate your ancestors’ remains!" Only one of their own could find the burial sites of their ancestors who died in battle. The everlasting enmity between the Magic and Daoist Realms led to mutual consumption of corpses. Yet, despite that, once the battle was over and the bodies were buried, no one disturbed their peace.
"Magic Realm Dragon Race’s exiled, your brother did the same too." Bai Ze smiled provocatively.
"Fafnir! You disgrace to the race!" Though Zhuo Geng had anticipated this possibility, hearing Bai Ze confirm it inflamed him to rage, yelling skyward.
"Act now, why waste time talking to him? Capture him quickly!" Nero urged, clutching his dizzy head.
"No rush. Thanks to your assistance, the major task is settled!" Bai Ze said confidently with hands behind his back.
"Don’t underestimate him, I feel he’s not badly hurt and still has strength left. Taking him down will require effort." Nero cautioned Bai Ze, unable to contain his skepticism.
"Summoning a few rare beasts isn’t enough to subdue me, too small-minded of you regarding Dragon Realm. Come! Attack together and show me what else you have." As Nero stated, Dragon King Zhuo Geng leveled his sword, activating his power to armor himself, evidently opting for a longer battle strategy.
"You’re mistaken, esteemed Dragon King! I’m not subduing you but them behind you. Turn and look up!" Bai Ze pointed upwards behind Zhuo Geng, smiling.
Turning up skyward, Zhuo Geng felt himself tense. Amidst battling the Child of Origin, Bai Ze stealthily released a group of mythical beasts. The Dragon Domain Battle Group fought amid difficulty against the Dark Race and Blood Demon Alliance Army. With these beasts intervening, the battle tilted quickly, leading to an inevitable defeat. Most of Zhuo Geng’s soldiers were heavily subdued, except for the dead and captured.
"Salafam, Hydra! Where’s Rego?" Zhuo Geng saw his captured son and six confidants alongside over forty remaining soldiers, realizing his once vast battalion reduced to tidbits. Tears welled up as he desperately searched among captives without finding Rego, tremblingly questioning.
Boom! A giant dragon head was tossed from a Blood Demon Grand Commander, rolling to Zhuo Geng’s feet. The commander sneered proudly, "He’s dead, quite the opponent. Killed two of my comrades before I cut... "
Pang! The Dragon King furiously retaliated with a sword, unleashing Dragon Breath Slash coated with his full fury, striking towards the culprit. The Blood Demon Grand Commander was shattered before he finished speaking.
Fear gripped the crowd, previously certain of victory, prompting them to shield themselves behind captives.
