Chapter 106 : Omen

Chapter 106 : Omen

OmenIn reality, if you wanted to open a restaurant, there would be a lot of preparations required. Not to mention anything else, just the business license and the health permit alone aren't things that could be approved in just a day or two.

However, no matter how realistic Legend of Kaloran was, at its core, it was just a game, and wasn't bound by as many rules and regulations as the real world. Every process could be simplified by quite a lot, and in less than two minutes, Cecilia had completed all the registration procedures.

It was only when she reached the form-filling stage that Cecilia suddenly stopped.

If you wanted to open a shop, you needed to register a shop name. However, since childhood, Cecilia had always been terrible at coming up with names. She spun the quill in her hand again and again, while a drop of ink slowly spread on the tissue, but Cecilia simply couldn't think of a fitting name for her maid café.

During the time Cecilia was doing the registration, little Persimmon Puppy, who was standing nearby, had long since watched in a daze. Seeing her stop, she hesitated for a long time before leaning in closer and gathering her courage to remind, "You're not really going to open a shop, are you? If you open a shop, you won't be able to create or join a guild anymore."

"Yeah, I triggered a special quest."

Cecilia didn't really know how to explain, so she merely brushed the question aside.

"Didn't we agree that I would join your guild? What about me?"

Little Persimmon Puppy's face went blank for a moment, then she hurriedly asked.

"That's true..."

Cecilia knocked gently on the table, then, as if thinking of something, turned and smiled lightly, saying, "Otherwise, why don't you work as a waitress with me?"

"I... I'm a Merchant... I don't want to be a waitress..."

Seeing that Cecilia seemed to have made up her mind to give up on the guild, little Persimmon Puppy was on the verge of tears.

"What's wrong with being a waitress? Isn't that just selling service as well? Some people want to join, and I might not even accept them."

Muttering softly, Cecilia skipped over the shop name section and moved on to the next column in the contract. She looked up and asked the gray-haired loli behind the desk, "What does maximum five mean? Besides myself, can I only recruit up to four more people?"

"That's how the rules are set, nothing I can do about it."

Being stared at so intently by Cecilia, elsa blushed slightly and nodded a little shyly.

"I want one of the four spots!"

Little Persimmon Puppy finally came to her senses and couldn't help but call out.

After all, her ultimate goal was to get closer to Cecilia; whether she joined a guild or a restaurant in name, there really wasn't much difference in essence.

In other words, even if she was a waitress, she'd be Cecilia's waitress. If something happened to her, surely Cecilia wouldn't just sit by idly.

Five spots, not too few but certainly not a lot. Other than Cecilia herself taking up one, there was Gu Yanxi and Little Persimmon Puppy—these two definitely needed to be included.

That left only two spots remaining, and the first people Cecilia thought of were Dawn's Light and Yuewu.

However, both of them were the captains of other teams, with many people under their command. Though they'd worked well together for so long and become familiar, Cecilia still didn't know if the two would give up their teams and agree to join her maid café.

"The last two spots... let's hold off for now..."

Being truly unable to come up with a name for the café, after agonizing for dozens of seconds, Cecilia could only ask Elsa, "Can I take this contract with me? I'll bring it back to you once I've filled it out."

"Mm, as you wish."

Since there were still seven days before the time limit for this quest, Cecilia wasn't in any rush. She stored the unfinished contract back in her backpack. After bidding Elsa farewell, Cecilia and Little Persimmon Puppy left the lobby together.

As they walked down the street, seeing the worried look on Little Persimmon Puppy's face, Cecilia casually asked, "Worried about something? The auction tonight?"

"Mm, something like that."

Little Persimmon Puppy sighed softly, turned her head, and forced a smile.

"Nervous? Or just feeling a lot of pressure?"

Cecilia felt it was a bit odd; normally, little Persimmon Puppy very rarely showed such a worried expression.

After hesitating for several seconds, little Persimmon Puppy finally spoke in a low voice, "No, I'm just worried... someone might try to cause trouble at the auction."

"Cause trouble? Who?"

On hearing this reply, Cecilia raised her eyebrows, her light blue eyes narrowing slightly.

This auction, organized by Little Persimmon Puppy, was something Cecilia had a stake in. Not to mention, the auction was being held at Gu Yanxi's house. If someone did want to play dirty, stirring up malicious competition or sabotage in the open or in secret, Cecilia wouldn't mind killing a few more people as an exception.

"Do you remember the person we saw when queuing just now?" said Little Persimmon Puppy.

Hearing this, a slender, tall figure in Mage's robes and crystal glasses flashed through Cecilia's mind.

"I think I remember—you mean that guy with glasses, right? Who is he?"

Cecilia asked.

"A peer, also someone who resells equipment, but he's always done it in an ugly way and likes to play dirty behind the scenes. Now that the game market's markup is so high, I'd say there's about a seventy percent chance it's his doing,"

Little Persimmon Puppy answered.

After a pause, seeing Cecilia still listening intently, little Persimmon Puppy continued, "I've also heard he's been planning an equipment auction himself for a while, but because it's still early in the game and the rules aren't perfect, we ended up beating him to it this time. Based on his usual style, I don't think he'll just let it go."

"I see."

Cecilia nodded lightly and said calmly, "You mean, he doesn't want you to grab the market, so tonight at the auction, he'll probably send people to cause trouble and ruin our first in-game auction?"

"With what I know of him, it's not probably—it's certain."

Little Persimmon Puppy's pretty face grew grim, and she clenched her fingers. "I've already asked some teams I have good relations with to help maintain order near the auction tonight, but I'm still a little uneasy, especially after seeing that gloating look on his face today—as if he was sure he'd beat me. I can't help feeling I must have missed something."

"People who don't know their place really just keep coming, one after another."

Raising her hand to rub her forehead, Cecilia sighed helplessly.

"Tell the people you've hired not to come tonight. I'll be watching over things myself."
