Chapter 271 Seed of Plague
Chapter 271 Seed of Plague
"Not an enemy? Then what are you... a friend?"
"Rude..." the Shadow Mage muttered, then immediately smiled gently, "Hmph, I know Professor Serlin & Coward of Scholomance. I think even if this friend has no connection with the Cult of the Damned, he must have heard of the Plague Seed of Scholomance."
Lorraine shook her head frankly, "Never heard of it..."
The teacher inside the body really wanted to jump up and smack his apprentice on the head, "Idiot, they were trying to get information out of you, and you blurted out everything..."
......
"Never heard of it!?" The Shadow Mage hesitated slightly, observing the banshee repeatedly, then the mess left after the corpse explosion, and the undead army chasing bandits down the mountain. "Impossible. All the spells my friend is proficient in came from Scholomance. This place isn't far from Caer Darrow County; I know you sometimes sneak out to find samples..."
Before Lorraine could continue answering, the Shadow Mage spoke first: "This plague seed was planted by us... It's quite impolite of you to activate it prematurely."
"Lady Barbaras will be very unhappy..."
......
"The seed of plague? Pudding with stringy poop..."
Their gazes were fixed on the banshee that Elisa had transformed into. Lorraine recalled that before Elisa turned into a banshee, there was indeed a hidden necromantic aura within her body. Under normal circumstances, uninfected humans would not transform into vengeful spirits.
Even if infected, transforming into a banshee requires the support of powerful necromancy.
An ordinary human body cannot withstand it.
Generally, only those races that were skilled in magic during their lifetime or, like the high elves, possessed naturally long lifespans and were close to magical power are prone to becoming banshees...
The transformation of a high elf ranger-general into a banshee, like Queen Sylvanas, could only be achieved by combining the power of the runeblade Frostmourne with that of a death knight and the Lich King.
Sylvanas Windrunner, the Banshee Queen, or more accurately, the Dark Ranger, can not only become ethereal but also wield dark magic arrows in combat. She can also control certain familiars...
Soul Chains, Banshee's Roar, Shadow Cloak and Rain of Swords.
Sylvanas is both a skilled marksman assassin and a hero who uses shadow magic and soul control.
It boasts a wide range of skills, including agility, archery, swordsmanship, magic, and striking appearance...
With extensive experience and combat skills, keen insight into human nature, a strong sense of justice, and a master of darkness, he embodies the spirit of an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth...
The teacher didn't believe that the Queen could be easily defeated by the Moon Goddess's little tiger-toothed priestess. They were originally distant relatives... How could the corrupted Banshee Queen be weaker than the priestess who cleaned the Elune Temple?
This is slander! This is defamation!
This is bullying... The teacher protested, almost disrupting the student's train of thought.
......
Back at the scene, Lorraine thought for a moment and then shook her head.
"I've never heard of 'pull-like' stretchy poop..."
"Lord Barbaras is the great Nazrezim. He may not have been famous in the past, but in the near future, all rebels on this land will fear his name..." the Shadow Mage said proudly. "Just like Lord Mal'Ganis back then... we will once again bring fear to the mortals of this land!"
Hearing this, Lorraine roughly understood that the other party seemed to be referring to the Lord of Dread.
The dreadlord Mal'Ganis was the mastermind behind luring Arthas. He released the plague seed in Stratholme, causing Arthas to chase him to the Northrend continent, where he drew the cursed sword Frostmourne, leading to the Scourge's calamity.
Barbaras was indeed unheard of. The fact that the other party was so proud of it meant that he was a subordinate of the so-called Barbaras, the Dreadlord.
This also explains why the puppets remained unmoved; the Dreadlord is skilled at manipulating minds and influencing souls with magic...
"What are you looking for me for?"
"Don't rush, Necromancer. I think that being able to control such a number of puppets, ride death knights, and even master banshee transformation, cast corpse explosion, and absorb wraiths... aside from Naxxramas, I think only Scholomance could cultivate a genius like you!"
The Shadow Mage said excitedly, "I know that Scholomance has gone into hiding ever since the Lich King rebelled against their master. All the other talents were captured by Arthas and made his servants, and the remaining elites seem to be left to fend for themselves."
......
"Rest assured, I know you seem to have lost your purpose now. You crave tormenting these insignificant mortals, you desire to toy with their souls and bodies, you need more souls to feed on, and this suits me perfectly. We are willing to accept you as one of us. Believe me, we don't care who you serve; we only desire more death and chaos... to please our master..."
The Shadow Mage became more and more excited as he spoke, while Lorraine was completely bewildered.
"Didn't you just say I ruined your plans?"
"No, no, no, that's nothing. It's a miracle that this banshee was able to transform successfully. Your abilities are quite remarkable. Ordinary plague seeds spread very slowly, and eventually all these mortals here will turn into rotting bones. You just accelerated this process."
The shadow mage, smelling the blood in the air, praised it beautifully: "A fresh offering!"
"You have indeed disrupted our plans. These offerings were originally intended for the island to spread these seeds... Consider this our welcoming gift... I look forward to your joining us. Lord Barbaras and his brothers are eagerly awaiting your growth... Necromancer!"
Just as the Shadow Mage finished speaking, Death Oath arrived from the foot of the mountain and, without waiting for Lorraine's orders, launched an attack on the Shadow Archmage...
Lorraine was too late to stop it; the Spear of Light pierced through the Shadow Archmage's body.
The Shadow Archmage looked down at the large hole in his body, feeling no pain whatsoever. He stroked the burn marks caused by the holy light on the wound and exclaimed, "Interesting, very interesting!"
Feeling insulted, Shi Shi spurred his horse forward and slashed at the strange fellow with his sword.
To everyone's surprise, the black sword missed its target, and the Shadow Archmage's body instantly became ethereal and vanished, leaving only a lingering afterimage.
Lorraine and Deathsworn searched back and forth, only to find a shadow robe that seemed to swirl in the night sky on the ground... The Shadow Mage had vanished... Lorraine didn't even know his name, only that he had received information about the Plague Seed and a strange name for a poop-like creature.
It seems to be the Lord of Fear again!
The Syndicate and the Shadow Council are closely linked, and they appear to be used as pawns.
During Oridon's previous interrogation, he revealed many secrets. This time, however, it confirmed that the Shadow Council was indeed stirring up trouble in secret!
The Shadow Council seems to admire Lorraine; that's the feeling that Barbaras's men had just expressed.
The robes that were left behind seem quite nice.
The flowing magical star patterns on the robe, like flowing water, possessed immense magical power. Aside from having a slight affinity with shadows, it was truly a fine robe. Unfortunately, Lorraine dared not wear it and could only carefully put it away.
Come to think of it, he remembered that the Brightwood Staff in the Shadow Archmage's hand seemed even better.
After searching for a long time, I found nothing.
......
"Master, were you just making a pact with a demon?"
Upon hearing the oath of death, he attacked on his own initiative, seemingly fearing that his master would be bewitched...
"No, that's not true. He suddenly appeared and said strange things. I know he's a demon!"
The first attack from the Spear of Light failed, or rather, it couldn't harm the Shadow Archmage's body; he could vanish into the void at any time. That guy was probably disguised as a human.
The teacher said that the Lord of Fear is most skilled at transformation and bewitching people.
They seem to be unkillable...
“Master, the God of Death hates demons. The Spear of Light tells me that demons want to devour your soul... especially the soul of the one within you. They feed on mortal desires... fear and madness are their favorite foods.”
"Oh, is it?"
Lorraine is incredible...
The teacher cursed, "What? You want to eat me! Don't think I don't know they're only unkillable here; they'd die in their birthplace anyway. Then, apprentices, we'll go find them and cause them trouble..."
......
"Master, no one escaped from the foot of the mountain, but many targets have fled into the castle atop Alteran Mountain. Should I pursue them?"
Lorraine paused briefly, recalling how she had almost been blown up and startled by the sudden appearance of the mysterious figure!
The teacher said fiercely, "Leave no one alive! Take over the entire Alterac Ruins! This land will be ours from now on! The Syndicate bandits should have been wiped out long ago... Traitors are never welcome anywhere!"
Death Oath awaits Lorraine's command.
Lorraine nodded in agreement, then turned and began cleaning...
