Chapter 209 The Poor Vampire is the Real Boss 32
Brewster's gaze was indifferent; he only looked away after a long while before striding away. He never really cared about insignificant people, so he couldn't be bothered to manage Lina and Avi either.
As long as it doesn't go too far.
He thought about it casually.
She's hardly seen Ni Qing these past few days; unless he calls for her, she's practically nowhere to be seen. None of what Lina said was true, but she has to find a way to make it seem real.
For example, expelling Ni Qing.
However, she wasn't confident that the half-vampire prince wouldn't notice, so she specifically chose to meet him during the day.
During the day, the sunlight was so unfriendly to them that even the servants rarely appeared in the corridor, instead staying in their rooms to rest. Strands of light filtered through the lush branches and through the windows onto the carpeted floor.
The blinding light made it hard for her to open her eyes. If vampires had the best vision at night, then during the day they were practically blind like bears, so she didn't think Brewster could tell them apart like that.
Two rows of servants stood at the entrance, each with a cold and stern expression, upright posture, and blood-red pupils staring straight ahead without blinking.
She had to announce her arrival each time before she could be allowed to enter.
Lina raised her head as always, opened her lips, but before she could speak, the servant bowed slightly and opened the door a crack wide enough for her to enter.
Lina: "..."
She snapped out of her daze, straightened her back as if it were the most natural thing in the world, and walked in slowly with an air of unyielding arrogance.
Unlike everyone else, all vampires, including the former prince, have an extreme aversion to sunlight and will draw the curtains tightly shut during the day.
Brewster, however, brazenly drew back the curtains, letting the terrifying sunlight creep in unseen, and he seemed completely unaffected.
The boy sat at his desk, surrounded by endless letters and documents. His eyes were downcast and his expression was indifferent. Only after hearing the noise did he glance at the person who had entered.
The first thing that catches the eye is the jet-black hair.
His bloodshot eyes paused, and his movements as he flipped through the documents involuntarily slowed down. He said cryptically, "You rarely come to see me."
Lina nervously clutched at her skirt; the question seemed to have failed to uncover her identity. The dazzling sunlight stung her eyes.
"I've been a bit busy lately," she replied carefully. "Can't I come?" The girl raised an eyebrow, her mind filled with Ni Qing's words and actions, trying to imitate her flawlessly.
Brewster stared at her for a long time without saying a word. Just as Lina was wondering if she had said something wrong, he slowly spoke: "You are welcome anytime."
She breathed a sigh of relief: "Do you remember Lina? That noble girl from the neighboring country."
The boy lazily rested his chin on his hand and asked casually, "What's wrong?"
“I regret letting her stay here. Should we kick her out?” she said, her voice barely concealing her calm. Brewster finally put down what he was doing and stood up.
He walked towards her step by step, right before her eyes.
“Don’t forget,” he said softly, “you must remember your place from the beginning. Whether others stay or leave is not your decision. I just happened to want her to stay before, not for your sake. Do you understand?”
If Ni Qing were here, she would definitely say something like, "You're just being stubborn."
But Lina didn't know his temperament and thought he was angry, so she was instantly a little scared.
As he approached, he paused almost imperceptibly.
The girl didn't notice; she stood blankly in a small patch of shadow, her black hair no longer as lustrous as silk, her expression lost in thought as she stared at the person who had approached.
He truly deserves to be the man she chose; even against the light, his face is flawless.
She stammered, "I understand. I was being presumptuous."
The boy narrowed his eyes, his tone cold: "If you understand, then get out of here."
Lena was somewhat incredulous. Didn't everyone say that Brewster loved Ni Qing deeply? Why did she see something different? Were all these rumors false? Or...?
She couldn't think about that right now, because the prince was somewhat capricious and was currently in a fit of rage. She'd better wait a couple of days and look for another opportunity.
Thinking of this, she immediately turned around and quickly left.
Brewster's lips tightened, his eyes flickering with an unfathomable light. After a long pause, he slowly spoke: "Someone come here."
The servant responded immediately, "Yes, sir."
"Go and call Lina over."
