Chapter 1695 - 1696: The Well-Fed Never Know the Hunger of the Starving
Having settled the renovation details with her Third Uncle, Cheng Su officially entrusted the shop’s renovation to him. Since it was being handled by her own relative, Cheng Su felt completely at ease.
The renovation of a small shop wouldn’t take much time, a month was plenty to finish everything. Next up were stocking the store and hiring staff.
Cheng Su went to find Cheng Yaozong and, through his connections, met two people who were in the business. With this network, she found suppliers. Although she had personally gone to check it out, it was in a seaside city, quite far away by car, but the quality of goods was assured.
Once the shop renovation was completed and the odors dissipated, Cheng Su would be ready to stock up on goods.
For several consecutive days, Cheng Su tirelessly hustled around the shop, never forgetting to visit the branch office.
The branch office was currently overseen by Ying Xiaoya. Although Cheng Yaozu visited too, his primary focus was the Cheng family business, and the branch was just incidental management, mainly handled by Ying Xiaoya, who was primarily in charge of finance and human resources.
Cheng Su sat in her office, chatting about company affairs as well as post-marriage matters. They were best friends, and now even more of family, making their conversations much more intimate.
"Don’t say that I, being full, can’t understand the hunger of others. Now that Qi Taiguo has gone to Zhu City, that’s really wonderful. After enduring for years, he’ll return to Guangcheng, and you, settling here, means we can often meet!" Ying Xiaoya cheerfully said.
Cheng Su replied, "No need to wait for years. After graduation, I reckon I’ll come over here. Even if I don’t, I might go to Zhu City to stay with him for some days."
If they truly had to be apart for years, she wouldn’t be able to bear it. After graduating, she was definitely coming.
"Whatever suits you, Zhu City or Guangcheng, they’re not too far apart; overall, better than Qing City." Ying Xiaoya said indifferently. "I’m looking forward to the days when you come."
"I’m looking forward to it myself. These few days feel like years, I’m not used to it!" Cheng Su said mournfully, letting out a sigh.
Though busy during the day, she inevitably thought of Qi Taiguo in the quietness of night.
Ying Xiaoya looked at her face and teased, "What is it, only been a few days and you’re already missing hubby? What will you do over the next year?"
"Of course, I’m missing him!" Cheng Su replied with great gusto, then deliberately eyed her, "You, being well-fed, don’t know the hunger - how would you know what I feel!"
"You rascal," Ying Xiaoya nudged her, and the two burst into laughter.
"President Ying, there’s an invoice that needs reimbursing, could you please sign it?" someone said upon entering.
Ying Xiaoya said to Cheng Su, "Mind if I handle this real quick?"
Cheng Su spread her hands, as Ying Xiaoya went over to her desk to deal with the accounts with the staff.
Cheng Su took a sip of tea, casually picked up the newspaper on the desk, Hong Kong and Macau edition, thinking Xiao Ya must be keeping up with cross-border news.
The paper was practically a gossip magazine, talking about celebrities and some current affairs.
Cheng Su’s eyes stopped, mouth slightly open.
A Casino Tycoon Marries His Third Mistress, Gifting Jewelry Worth Two Hundred Thousand...
"Hey, Susu, why are you daydreaming?" Ying Xiaoya gave Cheng Su a little push.
Cheng Su snapped back to reality, glanced at her, and said, "Do you see this?"
"What?" Ying Xiaoya took a look, finding nothing unusual.
"Don’t you know who she is?" Cheng Su pointed to the woman smiling as she held onto an old man’s arm, "It’s Chiang Qing!"
