Chapter 469 - 471: Victor Vance’s Wedding
"I’ve made it this far thanks to you helping me strategize."
"Are you talking about your current achievements?" Laura Grant smiled. "My eye for talent is certainly sharp, but you’ve earned all of this through your own abilities. To be honest, I’m incredibly proud, and it’s also sparked a sort of indescribable fighting spirit in me..."
"Ever since my husband fell ill, I put all my work aside to focus completely on his treatment. I didn’t know how much time we had left together... It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this kind of burning ambition for my work. It reminds me of how driven I was in my youth. You’re the one who brought about these changes in me."
"So, I think we’ve brought out the best in each other."
Naomi Kenway couldn’t help but smile. "You’re right. There’s still a long road ahead, and I hope we can go far together."
"Definitely."

The day of Victoria Vance and Aidan Dawson’s wedding arrived quickly. Naomi Kenway’s entire family had received an invitation.
On the day of the wedding, Naomi Kenway chose a blue dress that was understated yet exquisite. After carefully getting ready, she headed to the venue with her family.
The wedding was held in a villa located in an exclusive, high-end residential district. The property spanned several thousand square meters and was said to have been purchased by the Dawsons specifically for their son and new daughter-in-law.
Ethan Shaw was looking after Ian, so Naomi Kenway went straight to the second floor. When she pushed open the door, she saw the slender back of a figure in a white wedding dress.
Hearing the noise, Victoria Vance turned around. A brilliant smile spread across her face when she saw it was Naomi. She walked over and took Naomi’s hands. "Nina, you’re here..."
"How could I miss your wedding?" Naomi looked up, taking in the sight of Victoria, and smiled softly. "You’re so beautiful. You’re the most beautiful bride today. You designed this dress yourself, didn’t you? It’s perfect for you. Come on, give me a twirl so I can see the whole thing."
Victoria Vance did as she was told and spun around. She asked with a smile, "Well? Is it beautiful?"
"Beautiful," Naomi nodded repeatedly. "Absolutely beautiful."
"By the way, where’s Mona?" Naomi asked. "I didn’t see her downstairs earlier."
"Mona is with Aidan’s mother. Her parents are wonderful people, and they adore Mona, so I can relax a little..." She sighed wistfully. "I never thought I’d see the day I’d be wearing a wedding dress I designed myself..."
She seemed to recall something and gave a smile of release. "I suddenly remembered my wedding day with Nathaniel Lynch. I personally designed our wedding attire, but Nathaniel wouldn’t let me wear it. He said that since I wasn’t famous, a dress I designed would be an embarrassment and make him lose face. He had a dress ready from some famous international designer. I was disappointed at the time but went along with it. Thinking back now, the signs that we weren’t right for each other were there from the beginning. It’s pathetic how I kept lying to myself for so long afterward..."
Naomi squeezed her hand a little tighter, comforting her. "That’s all in the past. Don’t ever waste your time and energy on that scumbag again."
A genuine smile appeared on Victoria’s face. "It’s only by having something to compare it to that I realize how precious happiness is. I never imagined a day this happy was possible."
Naomi said, "That’s because you’re an amazing person. Happiness was bound to find you sooner or later."
Tears welled up in Victoria’s eyes. "I don’t know how I can ever thank you, Nina," she said. "You’ve helped me so much—getting custody of Mona back, clearing my name, comforting me, and encouraging me when I was lost and in pain..."
She choked out, "Having a friend like you... I’m so incredibly lucky."
"Don’t cry." Naomi took out a handkerchief and dabbed the corners of her eyes. "If you cry, you’ll smudge your makeup and look like a little raccoon."
"Come on, look at me. Give me a smile."
As she spoke, Naomi made a ridiculously exaggerated smile.
It worked. Victoria burst out laughing.
Naomi nodded, satisfied. "That’s more like it. From now on, your life is going to be filled with happiness, so you have to make sure you smile a lot."
A soft knock came at the door, three times. Aidan Dawson’s voice, both gentle and excited, drifted through. "Junior, have you changed? Can I come in?"
"He’s here already," Naomi said with a smile, looking at Victoria.
Victoria called out, "Senior, you can come in!"
Aidan pushed the door open and stepped inside. He paused for a moment when he saw Naomi, then gave her a friendly smile. "Ms. Kenway, I didn’t realize you were here."
He eagerly rushed to Victoria’s side, his eyes seemingly glued to her. He stammered, "Ju-Junior... you look so beautiful today. I... I..."
Victoria smiled gently. "Senior..."
Naomi found this rather amusing. "You two are getting married today and you’re still calling each other ’Senior’ and ’Junior’? Don’t you plan on changing that?"
Aidan’s face flushed red. "W-Wife."
"Yes," Victoria replied softly. They looked at each other and smiled.
Naomi couldn’t help but laugh. Not wanting to disturb their private moment, she closed the door as she left.
The wedding began shortly after. Aidan, dressed in a black suit, looked perfect standing next to Victoria.
During the exchanging of the rings, Aidan gazed at Victoria’s serene smile and couldn’t hold back his tears. His fingers trembled as he slid the wedding ring onto her finger.
"Junior," he said, "I never dared to dream this day would come."
"Thank you. You’ve made my dream come true."
Tears shimmered in Victoria’s eyes as she nodded. "I’m the lucky one for having met you."
After exchanging rings, the two shared an intimate embrace.
Watching the couple on the stage, Naomi couldn’t help but smile, a hint of longing in her eyes.
Ethan Shaw wrapped an arm around her shoulder. Looking down at her, he asked, "What is it? You seem a million miles away..."
Naomi looked up at him and smiled. "I’m just so happy for them. And... it also got me thinking... about our wedding. Do you remember it? Looking back now, it feels like it was such a shame."
Theirs had been a marriage of family alliance; they’d only met a few times before the wedding and barely knew each other. A major incident occurred on their wedding day—it was utter chaos. Despite her objections, Jackson Kensington had insisted on bringing Lorraine Warren and Jeanette Kensington, which sparked a furious argument. The whole venue descended into a messy spectacle, with many guests watching them make a fool of themselves. Jane Chandler had been so furious she stormed out.
’What happened after that...’
Naomi remembered the situation spiraling out of control until Ethan had someone "escort" the Kensington family out. Only then was order restored. She still remembered Ethan’s ice-cold demeanor at the wedding. He had been like that for a long time after they first married—lukewarm and distant, as if he were just completing a mission.
News of what happened on their wedding day spread like wildfire, and both the Shaw and Kenway families became the laughingstock of Veridia.
Even thinking about it now, Naomi still felt a twinge of embarrassment.
