Chapter 1887 - 445: Deja Vu - Disguised as a Woman
Yun Ya heard the news from her mentor, and she couldn’t help but be stunned. Zhang Huasheng, standing nearby, continued, "One is the son of a country’s President, one is a Prince, and one is the youngest Duke, tsk tsk, little girl, are you going to be the First Lady? Or a Princess? Or perhaps the Duchess?"
The tone was full of teasing.
"Master, you know the inside story, please don’t make fun of me."
"Girl." Zhang Huasheng looked at her seriously, "I’m not making fun of you. I think your mom is serious about this. What do you plan to do?"
"Let’s just mix it up and see."
"Hey, you silly girl, you couldn’t care less about your own lifelong affairs. I think that President’s son is pretty good — handsome, talented, stable and proper...."
Seeing the resentful look in Yun Ya’s eyes, Zhang Huasheng chuckled, "Anyway, the last one standing of these three will be your future husband. I’m betting the President’s son will win in the end. I’m never wrong about these things."
"Master." Yun Ya gritted her teeth.
"There’s no point in being angry, you might as well enjoy it. You’re not going to lose out anyway, right?"
"Come on, drink your medicine, or it’ll get cold." Zhang Huasheng hurriedly held up a bowl of medicine, scooping a spoonful to her lips, "Just think about it, there are so many people in the world who can’t even get enough to eat or stay warm. Just now, I came back from the Middle East where war is constant, people die every day, kids are without parents, women without husbands or children, they have to worry about their next meal, and might get hit by stray bullets at any moment. Those are the truly pitiable people. But where do they have time to complain about the unfairness of the world? Compared to them, we’re incredibly lucky. Life is for us to live as we see fit; who cares about all that nonsense, as long as we’re happy. Sometimes, people need to learn to be a bit selfish. Life is short, we’re not living to be worthy of heaven, earth, the party, or the country. That’s all nonsense! As long as we don’t let ourselves down, that’s enough."
Listening to her mentor’s rambling voice, Yun Ya suddenly felt her nose sting with emotion.
"Girl, I know how much you’re hurting inside, but sometimes, you have to learn to let yourself go, step out of that fortress you’ve built around yourself. You’ll see how blue the sky is, how vast the ocean is, how beautiful the flowers bloom. You’re not alone, there are many people who care about and love you."
"Let those people cause trouble on their own, why punish yourself for their mistakes?"
Yun Ya felt a tremor in her heart; her mentor was right. She had been punishing herself for the mistakes of Ji Lanyi and Yun Shen. It wasn’t that Ji Lanyi refused to let her go, but that she refused to let herself go. But understanding was one thing; letting go was easier said than done.
Perhaps it was this understanding that made it even harder to let go.
Yun Ya sipped the bitter medicine, but her expression did not change, swallowing every drop.
Bitter, yes, but compared to life’s bitterness, what was this?
"Girl, when you get better, I’ll take you away. I have a secret place, a base even my senior brother doesn’t know about. Nowhere in this world can anyone find it. I’ll take you away, far from these people and these matters."
"Thank you, Master." Yun Ya said softly.
"Why are you thanking me? I genuinely see you as my granddaughter and care for you." Zhang Huasheng gently caressed Yun Ya’s hair with his rough palm, his gaze was loving and tender.
This expression and tone reminded Yun Ya of her grandfather from her memories. Suddenly, she rushed into his arms, releasing all the fear and helplessness that had been compressed inside her for so long.
Zhang Huasheng sighed, gently patting Yun Ya’s back. From an angle Yun Ya could not see, coldness filled his eyes.
How could that person... how could that person force Yun Ya to do such a thing?
He vowed this person would regret it.
Just then, there was a knock on the door. Yun Ya pulled away, wiped her tears, and said softly, "Come in."
Wu Hen pushed the door open, noticing Yun Ya’s slightly red eyes, evidence of recent tears. Seeing him look over, she quickly turned her head away.
"What do you want?"
Wu Hen’s brows and eyes instantly turned cold, he clenched his fists and said, "The Queen requests your presence."
"I understand, you may go now." Yun Ya said coldly.
Wu Hen glanced at her, but ultimately, silently withdrew.
"Girl, go ahead, remember to talk to her properly. No matter what she says, as long as you’re honest with yourself, it’s fine."
