Chapter 100 Classroom of Grade 1
Chapter 100 Classroom of Grade 1
As the new semester bell rang, Li Shiqing and Liu Yixin stepped into the high school campus, filled with anticipation and a touch of nervousness, and entered their new first-year class. The classroom was bustling with chatter as the students excitedly shared their holiday experiences. Li Shiqing and Liu Yixin had barely found their seats when they were already caught up in the lively atmosphere around them.
"Hey, Shi Qing, have you heard? Our courses this semester are really tough, especially math. I heard the functions section is practically 'devilish' level," Liu Yixin said, leaning closer with a worried look.
Li Shiqing waved her hand, feigning composure: "What's there to be afraid of? We'll deal with whatever comes our way. We're so smart, we can definitely handle it."
Just then, the school bell rang, and a teacher wearing black-rimmed glasses and a plaid shirt strode into the classroom, carrying a thick stack of lesson plans. He pushed up his glasses, his sharp eyes sweeping across the classroom, and instantly the room became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
"Hello students, I am your homeroom teacher and math teacher. My surname is Zhang. From today onwards, I will lead you on a journey through the ocean of mathematics. First, let's tackle the challenge of functions." Teacher Zhang's voice was deep and powerful.
Li Shiqing muttered to herself, "This teacher looks quite serious. I hope his lectures aren't too boring."
Teacher Zhang seemed to hear her mutterings, and the corners of her mouth turned up slightly: "Some students may find math boring, but that's because you haven't discovered its fun yet. Take functions, for example. They're like a mysterious magic box. You give them an input, and they give you a unique output. Isn't that amazing?"
Then, Teacher Zhang began to write furiously on the blackboard, explaining the definition and basic concepts of functions.
Liu Yixin was completely confused and couldn't help but raise her hand to ask, "Teacher, what exactly does f(x) mean? Why is it represented this way?"
Teacher Zhang replied with a smile, "This f(x) is like a mysterious code name, representing the rules governing the operation of the function, this magic box. You can think of it as a chef, and x is the ingredient. You put them into the chef's magic pot, and through f's unique cooking method, a delicious dish emerges, which is the value of the function. Does that make it easier for everyone to understand?"
The students burst into laughter, and the atmosphere in the classroom instantly became lively.
Li Shiqing laughed along, then suddenly a thought struck her: "Teacher, if we take our exam scores as x, and after your teaching as f, can they all be transformed into the delicious dish of a perfect score?"
Teacher Zhang was amused: "If there really were such a magical function, then I would be a magician. However, as long as everyone studies hard, their grades will definitely improve."
Seeing that everyone had shown some interest in functions, Teacher Zhang told a short story: "There was once a mathematician who was very fascinated by the study of functions. One day, he went to the market to buy apples, and the vendor told him that the apples cost 5 yuan per pound. Suddenly, the mathematician had a flash of inspiration. He let the weight of the apples he bought be x, then the total price y would form a functional relationship with x, y = 5x. As he picked out the apples, he calculated the total price corresponding to different weights of apples in his mind. As a result, after picking for a long time, he didn't buy many apples, but he did confuse everyone around him. The vendor even thought he didn't want to buy apples and was deliberately making trouble. Later, through in-depth research on these simple functional relationships in life, this mathematician discovered many important mathematical principles. So, functions are actually all around us, as long as we are good at observing and thinking."
The students listened with great interest, and the math class passed quickly in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. During the break, the students gathered together to discuss the points they had just learned.
"I don't think functions are as difficult as I imagined," Zhang Chen said with a smile.
Liu Yixin rolled her eyes at him: "That's because the teacher teaches well. You'll suffer in Chinese and English classes later."
In Chinese class, the Chinese teacher was an elegant lady who walked into the classroom carrying a collection of ancient poems.
"Students, Chinese language is a treasure of our Chinese culture. Today, let's appreciate the charm of ancient poetry," the Chinese teacher said with great emotion.
When discussing Li Bai's poem "Bring in the Wine," the Chinese teacher asked the students to recite it.
Li Shiqing volunteered to stand up and recited loudly: "Have you not seen the Yellow River's waters come from the sky, rushing to the sea never to return..."
After the recitation, the Chinese teacher smiled and commented: "Shi Qing recited with great momentum, but the emotions could be a little more delicate. The Yellow River's waters come down from the sky, what a magnificent momentum that is! Everyone should imagine themselves standing on the banks of the Yellow River, witnessing the spectacular sight of the surging river rushing down, and recite with this sense of awe and pride."
Liu Yixin whispered from below, "Teacher, Li Shiqing is treating the Yellow River like her own tap, turning it on way too high."
The students burst into laughter again. Li Shiqing sat down, blushing, and whispered, "You're such a smooth talker."
In English class, the English teacher was a stylish young woman who greeted the students in fluent English as soon as she entered the classroom.
"Good morning, class! Today we are going to learn some new words and expressions," the English teacher said enthusiastically.
When explaining vocabulary, the English teacher used an example to help students remember the word "abandon": "Some students may want to give up as soon as they start learning English, just like this word 'abandon', but we can't really give up, we have to persevere."
Zhang Chen suddenly blurted out, "Teacher, I feel like English is a maze. Once I go in, I can't get out. I'm always lingering at the door of 'abandon'."
The English teacher smiled and encouraged, "It's okay. As long as you follow my steps, one at a time, you'll definitely find your way out of this maze. Besides, learning English is actually quite fun, just like making friends. The more you interact with it, the more familiar you'll become with it."
After a day of classes, Li Shiqing and Liu Yixin walked out of the classroom carrying their heavy schoolbags.
"What a fulfilling day! I learned so much, my head feels like it can't hold it all," Li Shiqing said, rubbing her head.
Liu Yixin wholeheartedly agreed: "Yes, but the teachers are quite interesting, at least they make this dry knowledge more fun. I think as long as we work hard, we should be able to learn these courses well."
"Of course, we're a perfect team, let's cheer each other on!" Li Shiqing said confidently.
As they discussed their studies for the day, they also dreamed about their future high school life. The afterglow of the setting sun shone on them, outlining the beautiful contours of their youth.
