Chapter 166: Tearing Apart
An arm came around from behind and covered her eyes.
"Don't look." Lu Yu's weak voice was in her ear. Pressed against her back, she could only feel a soft warmth. Ji Meiqing couldn't look at anything else, her fingers groping inside the black robe. She wasn't wearing any clothes underneath, and her skin was unusually hot.
Fearing he would catch a cold, Ji Meiqing helped him into the house. These past few years, with a heater and blankets, she acted like a mother hen, helping him lie back down on the bed before looking at him with a mixture of lust and fear.
"You're not even wearing warm clothes in this freezing weather! Don't you care about your life? Standing here might only cause injury, but what if you suddenly get sick? Are you trying to make me worry to death?!"
Her crying startled Lu Yu. He had never seen her so anxious before, and for a moment, he was overwhelmed with mixed feelings, unsure of what to say.
After finally calming her down, it got dark outside. While he was asleep, Ji Meiqing quietly got out of bed and went outside to find Li Ming.
Lu Yu's condition could not be delayed any longer; he needed to go back and see a doctor immediately. He told Li Ming about the wine, and the two split up: one went back to see a doctor, and the other continued onward.
Li Ming remained silent for only a moment before agreeing. Ji Meiqing looked at him with immense gratitude, said goodbye, and returned to her room.
Lu Yu sat by the bed. His handsome face was deathly pale from his injuries, perfect for filming a vampire-themed TV series or movie.
As she got closer, she noticed the flush on his cheeks. Ji Meiqing tentatively checked his forehead temperature, and it turned out to be alarmingly high.
She hurriedly pushed Lu Yu onto the bed, but he wouldn't get off. Ji Meiqing shouted angrily, "Are you out of your mind? Lie down!"
"Who did you just see?" The handsome, aloof eyes looked at her.
Ji Meiqing frowned, not wanting to answer him directly, so she gave a perfunctory reply, "No one, just dealing with tomorrow's matters. You should get some rest."
"Did you go see Li Ming?" he asked bluntly.
Ji Meiqing looked at him, "What's wrong with him and me? Can't we see each other?"
"I forbid you to see him," he said defiantly. "Otherwise, you'll never see me again."
"Stop fooling around and get some rest. It's freezing cold in the room on a winter night." She didn't want to talk about these things with him anymore, so she tried to avoid the topic, but Lu Yu kept trying to stop her.
The man was incredibly strong; Ji Meiqing pushed him several times, but he didn't budge.
"What exactly do you want!" she demanded, frowning.
"You are not allowed to have any further contact with Li Ming."
"What's wrong with him?" Ji Meiqing asked, puzzled.
"He likes you."
Ji Meiqing found this reason somewhat amusing. "Just because he likes me, I have to avoid him? If everyone liked me, wouldn't I have to die?"
"No." He thought for a moment, then said very seriously.
"I think you're sick and your brain is fried."
Ji Meiqing was too lazy to talk to him anymore. She piled the blankets on him and tried to leave, but Lu Yu grabbed her hand and said domineeringly, "You are not allowed to see Li Ming."
"I won't see him." Ji Meiqing didn't know how to explain it to him.
“I don’t believe it,” he persisted. “You’re with me.”
"You're not sleeping, so why should I stay with you?" She glanced at him. "If you're not sleeping, others want to get some sleep too."
He thought for a moment, then got up, picked her up, and placed her inside. The next second, he pressed his body against hers.
The two lay facing each other on the same bed. Ji Meiqing was afraid that he would catch a cold, so she covered both of them with a quilt. However, Lu Yu left Ji Meiqing lying outside wearing only his underpants, exposed to the cold air.
Helpless, Ji Meiqing moved closer to him and then moved the blanket back, warning him, "If you make any more trouble, I'll leave immediately."
Lu Yu finally calmed down, the blanket covering him still on, not moved. Ji Meiqing breathed a sigh of relief, and seeing that he wasn't fussing anymore, she went back to sleep.
She was probably too tired, and fell into a deep sleep after closing her eyes. Lu Yu looked at her like this, and contentedly held her in his arms, falling asleep with her close.
In her dream, Ji Meiqing only felt a very hot wall chasing her, while it was freezing cold outside. After weighing her options, she leaned against the wall and slowly rested.
When the next day arrived, Ji Meiqing slowly woke up. She blinked groggily, her vision gradually clearing. Everything from the previous night came flooding back to her, and the person in front of her was now completely clear in her mind.
Lu Yu held her tightly, his arms encircling her, as if he didn't want her to leave. Ji Meiqing tried to push him away, but there was no response, so she could only obediently lie there.
He reached out and unconsciously drew circles on his chest. Overnight, his chin had developed some bluish stubble, which felt a little prickly to the touch.
Perhaps feeling a little uncomfortable, Lu Yu shifted his position and pulled Ji Meiqing out from inside, burying his head in her chest while tightening his grip around her waist.
Ji Meiqing was a little bored, so she yawned and tensed up for a moment. She would have to wait for him to wake up before she could relax.
It was a bit chilly in the room, and her ears were already frozen. She touched her ears and then put them back.
Lu Yu suddenly curled up, his forehead touching her collarbone, the heat so intense it could be used to cook a hot pot. Ji Meiqing was startled and struggled to get out of his arms. Lu Yu also woke up groggily, and seeing Ji Meiqing, he lazily asked, "What time is it?"
"Rest a little longer in the morning." She checked his temperature again; he probably had a fever, otherwise his body wouldn't be so hot.
After she finished dressing, she sat back down on the edge of the bed.
"I've already told Li Ming and the others to go ahead. You get some rest. I'll go cook you something to eat." She looked at him worriedly and tucked his exposed hand back under the covers. Then she covered him up again before leaving.
Lu Yu grabbed her hand and murmured, "Don't go."
"You should rest first." Ji Meiqing pulled her hand away from his and slowly left the room. Everyone outside was awake, and they all kept their distance from Ji Meiqing, afraid of getting into trouble. Perhaps it was because yesterday's events were too shocking, leaving a significant mark on their minds.
"Does anyone have chili peppers? I have some silver here." She took out a piece of silver from her bosom and stood in the middle of the road, looking at each person one by one.
Unfortunately, while they all coveted the silver in her hand, they did nothing.
