Chapter 551 - 570: Fighting Together Across the Sea of Stars
Chapter 551 - 570: Fighting Together Across the Sea of Stars
Previously, whenever Mo Si saw people happily hugging and cuddling, he’d found it strange.
Logically speaking, it was just flesh pressed against flesh. How could that possibly make someone happy? How could it be addicting?
’Wouldn’t it be cold in the winter? And hot in the summer?’
But now—
He was starting to understand. Being close, feeling the presence of the one you liked... you didn’t have to do anything at all to feel a moment of peace and happiness.
Just breathing the same air was enough to make him happy.
He was a bit intoxicated by the feeling. And when he was intoxicated, he wanted to get a little handsy.
They’d been dating for a while now, and Mo Si had become an old pro. He no longer asked for permission for what he wanted. He gently tilted his head, his cheek brushing against Qiuqiu’s, and said nothing, simply looking at her.
’No rejection meant yes.’
(Smooch! Mwah! Kiss kiss!)
After the kiss, the Little Panda was content. By now, the hovercar had reached a high altitude, where the air was still a little chilly. The cold air hit the glass, creating a layer of hazy mist.
Mo Si pressed a button, and the mist vanished. A brilliant golden light suddenly appeared at the edge of the clouds.
It was the sun.
The view from among the clouds was beautiful.
"What are you looking at?"
"Just looking outside. At the clouds."
He didn’t see what was so interesting about them, but with Jiang Qiuqiu, he too could get lost in the sight of unchanging water vapor.
Another ten minutes or so passed, leaving the suburbs far behind. The two of them began to approach Federation Star Main City.
Skyscrapers gradually came into view.
This was the Central Core District, a stark contrast to the suburbs. It wasn’t Jiang Qiuqiu’s first time witnessing the magnificence of the future, but she hadn’t seen much of it. Looking down from this height, she still found it breathtaking.
Though perhaps even more breathtaking were the Sky City and the mecha battles she had seen at Federation University.
Laser swords and all that... it really felt like something straight out of a novel.
’Oh, right. The Mecha Department.’
She suddenly remembered that the man beside her was an expert from the Mecha Single Soldier System.
So Qiuqiu couldn’t help but ask Mo Si, "When you were in school, what kind of classes did you take every day?"
"Me?"
"Yep."
"Are you asking about the mecha curriculum at Federation University?" Mo Si asked.
Jiang Qiuqiu nodded.
Mo Si replied, "My days were filled with gravity training and Spiritual Training, then I’d start combat drills—live sparring, virtual Insect Race battles, and real Insect Race battles. I didn’t have any special courses, only combat techniques. I would also occasionally study a bit of Command."
"That sounds... a little tedious?"
"Mhm. But the normal Mecha Soldier curriculum isn’t like that. I didn’t follow the standard program. It’s probably more like studying theory, spiritual meditation, gravity training, and then learning to pilot a mecha."
"What does it feel like to pilot a combat mecha?"
"Like bearing a heavy load."
"Then what’s the military training like for the single soldier department? I saw on the Star Network that everyone says the training is really tough, and that it’s not on campus—you have to go train with the army. Is that true?"
"Yes." Mo Si nodded. "Many Mecha Soldiers from the Federal Military Academy and Federation University end up joining the army... so their initial training starts with the army as well."
For many students, it was a chance to get an early look at their future workplace.
They talked about the army for a long while, and before they knew it, they had arrived at Federation University.
Before getting out of the hovercar, Mo Si put on his mask.
Unlike the sparsely populated campus they’d seen before, today the place was bustling with crowds of people.
After parking the hovercar and securing their luggage on a small floating platform, Jiang Qiuqiu and Mo Si walked into the bustling crowd.
They held hands, weaving through the gaps in the crowd and into the school. After she scanned her ID to pass through the inner gate of the Mecha Department, a small speaker chimed, "Welcome, student Jiang Qiuqiu, to the Mecha Single Soldier System. We look forward to fighting alongside you across the sea of stars."
’Fight alongside... across the sea of stars.’
