Chapter 79: Subconsciously Called Out "Stepmother"
Chapter 79: Subconsciously Called Out "Stepmother"
"Okay, okay, I'm not your stepmother, I won't take your stepmother's place. Let's apply the medicine first." Jiang Liwu went along with his words, trying to soothe him.
However, since the hair was turned upside down, Si Mocheng's expression darkened even more. He opened his mouth, a hint of accusation hidden deep in his eyes, but ultimately said nothing.
Before he could even feel downcast, Jiang Liwu took his hand. Si Mocheng was stunned for a moment, as if he hadn't reacted yet, and obediently let her lead him to the sofa.
"We need to clean the wound first before applying the medicine. It will hurt a little, so please bear with it." Jiang Liwu opened the first-aid kit and took out saline solution and cotton swabs.
Si Mocheng scoffed, "I wouldn't even cry out in pain over such a minor injury."
While treating his wounds, Jiang Liwu smiled and praised, "Yes, our little Chengcai isn't afraid of pain. He's been fearless since he was little. He's the bravest and the best."
Si Mocheng's ears turned bright red, as if he had applied rouge. His expression was extremely dissatisfied, as if he was unhappy that Jiang Liwu was treating him like a child.
"Hmph." He turned his head away and refused to look at Jiang Liwu.
Jiang Liwu carefully wiped the wound on his hand.
Si Mocheng quietly turned his head back to look at her, at her head, at how her jet-black hair made her skin appear even whiter, at her eyebrows, eyelashes, focused eyes, her beautifully shaped nose, at the small mole on her face, at the curve of her mouth, at her extremely charming and composed demeanor, her whole being bathed in a moonlit glow.
Even though twenty years had passed, it seemed as if nothing had changed. Si Mocheng was stunned and lost in thought.
When the person so close looked up, Si Mocheng quickly turned his head away again and looked at the ceiling.
Jiang Liwu suppressed a smile; the child's tantrum was both stubborn and arrogant.
"The medicine is applied, you can leave now. Don't think you can change my mind by trying to please me." Si Mocheng said coldly.
"No."
Si Mocheng frowned as if displeased.
Jiang Liwu opened the lid of the thermos, took out a bowl and spoon, ladled out a bowl of steaming hot wontons, and pushed it in front of a certain awkward child.
"You have to eat all of these."
Looking at the wontons soaking in the fragrant broth, glistening like jade flowers, with the meat filling clearly visible through the thin skin, so tempting, Si Mocheng unconsciously swallowed, a small amount of saliva escaping his lips, only to arouse his stomach's protest. It wanted wontons, not the drooling of its host!
No matter how much his stomach was screaming, Si Mocheng coldly said, "I don't want to eat it, take it away."
"Are you really not going to eat?" Jiang Liwu scooped up a snow-white, soft, trembling, and tempting wonton and waved it in front of Si Mocheng.
Si Mocheng closed his eyes and said firmly, "I won't eat." He would rather starve to death today and be carried out of his office than eat this liar's food.
"Okay." Jiang Liwu put the spoon back into the bowl, her tone somewhat disappointed. She sniffed, "I cut my finger trying to cut the pork into finer, softer pieces."
Si Mocheng swiftly grabbed Jiang Liwu's hand, his cold eyes filled with anxiety. He carefully examined each of her slender, jade-white fingers, which were tinged with pink.
Actually, these hands don't look like a stepmother's at all.
These hands are so delicate and clean that you can tell at a glance that their owner is a pampered and innocent girl who grew up in a sweet environment.
But his stepmother was like a drawn sword, its blade reflecting the dazzling moonlight, sharp and resolute, full of conviction, indomitable and powerful.
Her hands were weathered and bore some scars, with a thin layer of calluses on her palms that felt slightly prickly to the touch. But being held or hugged by her always made me feel so at ease, like a warm home that could withstand any storm.
Seeing no opening, Si Mocheng pursed his lips, his gaze dark and unfathomable. "You're lying to me."
Jiang Liwu showed no remorse, blinking innocently, "Because I'm a liar."
Speechless at those words, Si Mocheng was somewhat annoyed. "Get out of here right now."
"Are you sure you want me to leave? Don't you hate it when I call you Xiao Cheng? When I leave, I won't call you Xiao Cheng, I'll call you Xiao Chengcheng. When I see one of your employees, I'll tell them, 'Little Chengcheng doesn't like to eat.'" Jiang Liwu stood up and mischievously walked away.
Si Mo Cheng: "..."
He stared wide-eyed in disbelief, the shameful repeated words making his innocent face flush instantly. He clenched his fists, his breath trembling, and each word, uttered with embarrassment, was squeezed out fiercely from between his teeth, "...come back."
Jiang Liwu immediately turned around, looked back at him with a bright smile, and asked, "Want to eat now?"
Si Mocheng gritted his teeth, "Eat..."
Jiang Liwu raised an eyebrow. How could she not know the children she had raised?
That brat, is he beyond saving?
When eating wontons, Si Mocheng didn't seem forced at all; he even showed a sense of enjoyment in his eyes. One bite wasn't enough for him; he wanted to eat two or three at a time.
The wontons were made by Jiang Liwu herself, so they were several times larger than the wontons sold outside. Si Mocheng chewed them, his cheeks bulging. Wow, he looked exactly like a little devil, unchanged for twenty years.
Jiang Liwu poured herself a glass of water and drank it, a sweet and endearing smile flashing in her eyes.
Before long, Si Mocheng had finished the entire bucket of wontons.
"How about it?"
Si Mocheng remained calm. "So-so, barely edible." He elegantly wiped his lips.
Jiang Liwu picked up the bucket and tried to pour it out, but not a single drop of soup came out. She closed one eye and peered into the bucket, as if using the thermos as a telescope. "This bucket doesn't seem to need washing."
Si Mocheng lost his composure in just a second. His cheeks flushed, and he couldn't sit still any longer, so he went to the next room to change his clothes.
If he hadn't been given the medicine, he would have liked to take a shower right away. His obsession with cleanliness wasn't as severe as Yan Wenyu's, but he still couldn't stand being covered in dirt.
Si Mocheng changed his clothes quickly. After putting on his lower body, he only had time to put on one sleeve of his shirt before rushing out. When he saw Jiang Liwu still sitting in the same spot, he immediately regained some composure.
Jiang Liwu rested her chin on her hand and looked at him admiringly, "Wow, eight-pack abs."
Si Mocheng quickly turned around to put on his clothes, revealing a deep pink hue on the back of his neck.
"Do you even know what 'don't look at what is improper' means?"
Jiang Liwu pouted, "What's there to be shy about? I've seen everything when you were little, you were naked..."
"Stepmother!" Si Mocheng called out in a flustered and embarrassed voice, interrupting Jiang Liwu's attempt to expose his past.
He didn't even realize when he shouted it out, and Jiang Liwu was also stunned for a moment.
Soon, Jiang Liwu looked at him with bright eyes and a smile, "You admit that I'm your stepmother?"
