Chapter 533 Xie Jing's Story: Thinly Dressed
They both withdrew their hands at the same time and started doing their own things.
They moved very carefully, afraid that they might get too close if they weren't careful.
Xie Jing glanced at her slightly flushed cheeks out of the corner of his eye, and the corner of his lips curled up slightly.
As Li Sheng twisted the silver needles, she cursed herself inwardly for being so useless.
Let's stick to the facts! Let's stick to the facts!
You're here to raise poisonous insects, not to indulge in wild thoughts!
Just then, a soft knock came from outside the door.
"Young Master," Qingbai whispered from outside the door, "we've found a lead."
"Come in."
Qingbai pushed open the door and came in.
Li Sheng's gaze fell between the two, slightly puzzled. "What clue? Have you caught the person who drugged you?"
Xie Jing nodded slightly, then looked at Qing Bai, "Speak."
Qingbai lowered his voice, "The person was found on the black market, and the origin of that batch of drugs is recorded. The person who bought the drugs was an old servant of Li Meng. He hired someone to take the money, went through two layers of intermediaries, and bought the aphrodisiacs."
Li Sheng was stunned, and her expression changed instantly.
"Who did you say you were?"
She subconsciously looked at Xie Jing, then at Qing Bai, her voice tight.
Qingbai repeated, "Li Meng."
Li Sheng stood there, stunned, her face gradually darkening.
She quickly realized what was going on.
"So, what he initially wanted to scheme against was me and Wen Ziyan."
"The matter of the Wuli tribe has been dragging on for so long that he has no other choice but to resort to such despicable means to force Wen Ziyan to marry me and make him submit."
Li Sheng gripped the hem of her clothes tightly, her knuckles turning white. "He actually dared to give me this kind of drug..."
She knew Li Meng wasn't a good person, but she never expected him to actually do something like this!
Li Sheng bit her lip hard, her chest heaving violently.
Station.
After finishing his lunch, Li Meng was half-lying on the couch to rest when a servant hurriedly entered and whispered, "Second Master, Lord Xie has sent word that he would like to invite you for a chat."
Li Meng was taken aback, then overjoyed, and sat up abruptly.
"Xie Jing wants to see me?" His eyes gleamed, and he looked excited.
If they can see Xie Jing, there will be a turning point in the Wuli tribe's situation!
A moment later, he went out with a few close attendants and got into the carriage at the door.
The carriage was in a small courtyard.
The courtyard was secluded and deserted, even the lanterns were dimly lit. The courtyard gate creaked shut behind him, making a sound that sent chills down his spine.
"Where is this?"
Just as Li Meng was about to turn his head, he suddenly felt a numbness in his shoulder and was pressed down by a tremendous force, falling heavily to the ground.
"What are you doing!" he shouted in shock and anger, but his hands and feet were tightly bound and he could not move.
His entourage had already been taken into custody. Several masked guards acted swiftly, and soon they had tied Li Meng up and pinned him down on the cold stone bricks inside the room.
The surroundings were dark, with only a dim yellow oil lamp in the center illuminating the ground in front of him with a faint glow.
Footsteps sounded from the darkness.
Xie Jing, dressed in a dark robe, slowly emerged from the shadows.
Upon seeing him, Li Meng flew into a rage, "Lord Xie! What do you mean? Why did you kidnap me? I've never offended you!"
"Aren't you very good at drugging people?" Xie Jing approached unhurriedly. "Now you can experience it for yourself."
Li Meng was taken aback at first, not understanding what it meant.
Then I suddenly felt a tingling sensation on my wrist, as if something was crawling under my skin.
He quickly realized that the ropes binding him had been coated with medicine!
The medicine had already seeped into the skin, causing a dense, stinging, and itchy sensation.
He struggled hard, but because his hands and feet were tied behind his back, he couldn't touch the itchy spot at all!
"Thank you, sir!" Li Meng cried out in terror, his body twisting violently.
Xie Jing waved.
A servant came over, pinched open Li Meng's jaw, and forced him to drink a bowl of thick, dark medicine.
"You! You dare—woo—!"
The scalding, bitter medicine was poured into his mouth, and before Li Meng could struggle, he swallowed it all.
Soon, he felt a numbness in his throat, churning in his stomach, and a fever.
Xie Jing leaned down to look at him, his eyes extremely cold.
An hour later.
The dim light inside the room shone on the distorted, curled-up shadows of people on the ground.
Li Meng was soaked to the bone, his eyes were bloodshot, and he kept rubbing his hands on the ground, trying to relieve the intense itching that he couldn't scratch.
Like a wild dog trapped in a fire cage.
The stone door slowly opened, and a blast of cold air rushed in from outside.
Xie Jing walked in and looked down at the disheveled appearance.
"Does this medicine seem familiar?"
Li Meng raised his head, his eyes filled with confusion.
He was panting heavily, unable to react for a moment, his mind buzzing.
Xie Jing lowered his head and said, word by word, "This medicine was prepared by Li Sheng himself."
Upon hearing this, Li Meng's eyes widened. "What? Her?"
He gritted his teeth, his face flushed red, and his anger was almost bursting forth.
"I'm her second uncle, how could she treat me like this!"
Xie Jing sneered, "When you drugged her, did you ever consider that you were her second uncle?"
Li Meng paused, his face a mixture of anger and shame.
Xie Jingli stood still and said to the guards behind him, "Increase the dosage."
As soon as he finished speaking, several servants immediately stepped forward and brought him fresh medicine.
"No! No—no—"
Li Meng understood, and suddenly began to struggle violently as if he had gone mad, kneeling and crawling backward.
"Stop feeding me, please—I was wrong...I was really wrong..."
"Thank you, Jing! Thank you, Lord Xie!"
He cried and screamed, snot and tears streaming down his face, "I was bewitched, I was confused, I beg you to let me go, I'll never do it again, I'll never do it again..."
"I...I want to see Li Sheng, please let me see her, just let me say one word to her, please..."
"I'm her second uncle, she wouldn't really want me dead... I raised her, I'm her family—"
He howled and kowtowed, his forehead hitting the floor tiles with a thud.
Xie Jing didn't even glance at him again. "Keep an eye on him, and make sure he doesn't stop taking his medicine."
After saying that, he turned around with his hands behind his back.
The door slammed shut, shutting out Li Meng's heart-wrenching cries.
Xie Jing stepped out of the courtyard gate, the wind brushing against his clothes, bringing a slight chill.
Moonlight slanted down outside the courtyard, and a slender figure stood under the eaves—it was Li Sheng.
She changed into a plain white dress and held a lantern in her hand.
Seeing Xie Jing come out, she walked up to him and asked, "How is it? Is the medicine still working?"
Xie Jing stopped and his gaze softened slightly when he saw her.
"Yes, it works very well."
Li Sheng remained silent for a few moments after hearing this.
Suddenly, he asked, "Xie Jing, am I a very bad person?"
She gently twirled the lantern on her finger, "After all, he's my second uncle..."
“If this is considered bad, then I am already utterly wicked,” Xie Jing said, raising an eyebrow.
Li Sheng chuckled softly.
“You’re not utterly wicked,” she said, her eyes crinkling with laughter. “You’re a really good person.”
Xie Jing's eyes softened instantly.
"It's getting late," he said softly. "Let's go back and rest."
Li Sheng nodded, and the lantern swayed gently in her hand.
A night breeze suddenly arose, brushing against the sparse shadows in the courtyard.
Li Sheng couldn't help but yawn.
Xie Jing glanced at her and saw that she was dressed in thin clothes, with slender shoulders, and looked exceptionally thin.
Her black hair slid down her shoulders, revealing a small section of snow-white skin on the side of her neck.
