Chapter 193 Warmth on the Ship
Chapter 193 Warmth on the Ship
Chu Xinyao was unaware that in the distant Azure Dragon Tribe, orcs were doing everything in their power to protect them.
She stood quietly at the bow of the boat, a gentle breeze brushing her cheeks, bringing a refreshing coolness.
With the fish bubbles by their side, they made their way smoothly. With almost no trouble, they boarded the boat without incident. The boat rocked slightly, and the waves gently lapped against its hull, making a "whoosh" sound.
"Yao, what are you thinking about?" Shemo's voice came from behind. He was holding a thick coat in his hand and walked over gently, draping the coat over Chu Xinyao's shoulders. The coat was thick and soft, and carried Shemo's unique scent.
Chu Xinyao turned her head, looked at She Mo's concerned eyes, smiled slightly, and said softly, "It's nothing, I was just thinking about some things."
"Can you tell me?"
Chu Xinyao pulled her clothes tighter, and after feeling the warmth, she looked up at him and asked with concern, "Is everything alright? By the way, how is Xiao?"
“What can we do? It’s the same as always,” he paused, then continued, “but at least we can get ashore and rest for a while.”
Tiger Roar's seasickness persisted despite all his efforts. Fortunately, he took some sleeping pills, and the beast fell into a deep sleep, allowing him to pass this unbearable period in his dreams.
"Okay, then!" Chu Xinyao turned her gaze to the distance, and through the shimmering sea, she could see a small island not far away.
The island appeared and disappeared in the drizzle, shrouded in a thin mist, like a fairyland.
"Is it there?" She looked at the familiar island with anticipation.
"Yes, the island where you and Yu held your marriage ceremony." Shemo said with a hint of jealousy, his brows furrowing slightly, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes. If he had found Chu Xinyao first back then, or if he hadn't attacked the merman ship, his Yao... perhaps everything would have been different.
Then a bitter smile appeared on his face. Unfortunately, there are no "what ifs." Now that his identity as the Holy Maiden Yao has been exposed, it will likely attract the covetous eyes of countless powerful figures.
His face darkened slightly, but he quickly regained his composure. He took a deep breath, looked at Chu Xinyao with unwavering determination, and secretly vowed that no matter how many difficulties he faced, he would never let Chu Xinyao suffer any injustice.
Snake Ink turned his head to look towards the Holy City, a cold glint in his eyes. The Holy City Lord—if he found out that Long Yuan was behind their attack, he would definitely not let him go!
His dark red eyes narrowed slightly, flashing with a dangerous light, like a ferocious beast about to pounce on its prey.
Suddenly, a playful figure approached him, interrupting his thoughts. Chu Xinyao's eyes were bright and lively, and she had a mischievous smile on her face: "Mo, what naughty idea are you up to this time?"
Snake Ink smiled, then revealed a doting smile. He lowered his head, looking at his lively beloved, his eyes unconsciously revealing tenderness. He gently ruffled her long hair and chuckled, "I don't have that many bad ideas, I'm just thinking about some things."
Chu Xinyao persisted, tilting her head and asking curiously, "Really not? But your eyes looked so dangerous just now!" She leaned closer and whispered, "Don't try to hide it from me, I know exactly what you're thinking."
Snake Ink immediately became interested. "Oh, Yao, tell me, what am I thinking?" He pulled her into his arms, holding her waist gently yet with an irresistible force. His fingers lightly brushed away the stray hairs on her forehead, gently tucking them behind her ears to reveal her delicate face.
Chu Xinyao was slightly taken aback by his sudden action, a faint blush rising to her cheeks, as if his unexpected intimacy had disrupted her rhythm. Even her heartbeat quickened involuntarily, becoming slightly erratic. But she quickly regained her composure, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
She tilted her head back, revealing a mischievous smile, and leaned close to Snake Ink's ear, her breath carrying a faint, sweet fragrance, and whispered something.
She Mo's body stiffened slightly, and the large hand on Chu Xinyao's waist tightened instantly, instinctively pulling her closer. His breathing was a little erratic, and his deep voice was hoarse: "Yao, is it really okay?"
Chu Xinyao pretended to pull herself away from She Mo's embrace, but She Mo held her even tighter. "Ah, I guessed wrong, so let's just forget about it!" Her tone carried a deliberate hint of disappointment, teasing She Mo and making his heart flutter.
Snake Ink frowned, a hint of urgency flashing in his eyes. He shook his head, whispering in Chu Xinyao's ear with barely concealed longing: "No, no, no, I want, I want tonight..."
"Shh—" Chu Xinyao reached out and placed her fingertips against She Mo's lips, stopping him from continuing. "Don't say it out loud, or it won't work."
She Mo was slightly taken aback, then smiled, gently took Chu Xinyao's hand, and pressed her fingertips against his cheek to feel her warmth.
"Yao, you're always like this, always teasing me."
"Who told you to always be so easy for me to tease?" She leaned lightly against Shemo's chest, feeling his slightly cool breath.
She Mo lowered his head and rested his chin on the top of Chu Xinyao's head. His breath was slightly cool as it gently brushed against her hair.
"Although your teasing sometimes leaves me at a loss, I can't deny that I like you for who you are—lively and energetic, and you always tug at my heartstrings."
Upon hearing this, Chu Xinyao's eyes sparkled with happiness as she smiled. She grasped Shemo's hand, their fingers intertwined.
"Mo, do you know? Every time I see your doting smile, I feel especially happy."
"Me too." As long as you're happy, I'm happy!
Snake Ink smiled and said, "I will always spoil you like this forever." His eyes were full of firm light to express his determination.
The two embraced quietly, the sea breeze gently caressing their hair. Fine rain fell on their shoulders, but it did nothing to disturb the intimate atmosphere between them.
The sky over the holy city was shrouded in dark clouds, as if foreshadowing an approaching storm.
The temple was in complete disarray, and amidst the chaos, an elderly man knelt respectfully on the ground.
His white hair hung limply over his shoulders, and his face was etched with the lines of time.
"The Holy Maiden is missing, are you satisfied now?" Long Yuan stood before the old man, his face contorted with rage, his eyes burning with fury.
Enraged, he slammed the porcelain cup in his hand down at the old man's feet. The cup shattered with a resounding crash, the sound echoing throughout the hall.
The porcelain cup shards flew everywhere, one of them grazing the old man's face, but instantly healed without leaving a trace of blood.
The old man remained kneeling, head bowed, not daring to meet Long Yuan's angry gaze.
"Lord of the city, I..." He wanted to explain, but any explanation seemed so pale and powerless.
