Chapter 76 Li Yan's Warning
Chapter Seventy-Six: Li Yan's Warning
Li Yan became even more unscrupulous in provoking the aloof and fragile Xu Rou.
As a result, not long after, Xu Rou got so angry that she threw down her chopsticks and stormed into the room without looking back, slamming the door shut with a loud bang.
Li Yan shook her head as she ate her meal, "Tsk tsk, who told you to provoke my son?"
Gu Tingyan's leniency towards Xu Rou doesn't mean Li Yan will be the same.
When Gu Tingyan returned and sat down to eat, the butler told him, "Young Master, Miss Xu hasn't eaten dinner and has locked herself in her room."
"What is Xu Rou doing now that is being unreasonable?"
Displeased, Gu Tingyan put down his chopsticks and, accompanied by the butler, personally pried open Xu Rou's door.
Xu Rou sat on the bed, tears streaming down her face. Seeing her tear-filled appearance, Gu Tingyan unconsciously softened his questioning tone.
"Xu Rou, why aren't you eating dinner properly?"
With his long legs, Gu Tingyan walked to Xu Rou's side in a few steps, frowning slightly as he looked down at her.
Xu Rou's tears fell even harder as she looked at the man in front of her and cried, "Li Yan is bullying me so much!"
Gu Tingyan was about to bend down to get Xu Rou some tissues to wipe her tears, but he was stunned by what she said.
His dark eyes narrowed, and he said expressionlessly, "Li Yan isn't that kind of person. Don't think of her that way."
Gu Tingyan's current trust in Li Yan is not something Xu Rou can easily undermine.
Xu Rou could sense that Gu Tingyan's attitude towards her hardened when she spoke ill of Li Yan.
My heart ached even more, and tears of grievance kept falling.
"I didn't slander her, I have audio evidence!"
Xu Rou took out her recording file and placed it in Gu Tingyan's hand.
Gu Tingyan was surprised that Xu Rou had recorded the conversation. He held his phone with his long, slender, pale hand, and was about to turn it on when he heard Li Yan's voice.
"Am I bullying you?"
Li Yan wanted to go downstairs to get something, but when she passed by Xu Rou's room, she heard her complaining to Gu Tingyan. She quickly went in to clear her name.
She looked at Xu Rou and questioned her repeatedly.
"You yourself said you don't like Gu Tingyan, so was I wrong to ask you to return his things?"
“When your mother was discharged from the hospital, I went to pick you up. After we got back, you wouldn’t let me have a proper meal and kept criticizing me. Was it wrong for me to fight back?”
"Or do you think that if you insult me, I not only can't talk back, but I have to obediently let you slap my face in order for you to consider me not bullying you?"
Li Yan was telling the truth. No matter whether Xu Rou recorded the conversation or how she tried to distort the facts, she would not let Xu Rou succeed in sowing discord.
Moreover, the fact that she used the same trick twice shows how naive Xu Rou's thinking was.
At this moment, Li Yan's dislike for Xu Rou reached its peak. She even felt that she could hardly breathe when she was in the same space as Xu Rou.
After listening to Li Yan's words and the recording, Gu Tingyan tossed the phone back to Xu Rou and said irritably, "Xu Rou, I don't want to see you causing trouble anymore."
He gave Xu Rou a threatening look, turned and walked out, telling Li Yan in a casual tone that it was time to eat.
Li Yan noticed that his reaction was a little cold, but she didn't stop him to say anything, she just nodded.
Xu Rou and Li Yan were left alone in the room.
In front of Li Yan, Xu Rou couldn't cry. Instead, she was afraid and wanted to run away, but she found that this was her own room and there was nowhere to escape.
Li Yan glanced at Xu Rou, grasping her weakness: "Xu Rou, I advise you to be honest, otherwise, I can make sure Gu Tingyan won't give you a single penny."
Xu Rou's face turned deathly pale.
