Chapter 100 Follow
Chapter 100 Follow
"Why perform such a grand ceremony?" Chu Deng asked with a smile as she landed and looked at Meng Qiuhe kneeling on the beach.
"Ptooey, ptooey." Meng Qiuhe spat out the sand in his mouth, then simply prostrated himself on the ground and bowed, saying, "Welcome the Lamp God."
"You win." Chu Deng was thoroughly disgusted by his sycophantic words, and turned to pat the camel that had brought her there. "Thanks."
The camel blinked, and seeing that the human had found her kind, she turned and ran away. She didn't want to face a group of her kind courting her—they were so fierce.
"Let's get out of here first." Bai Hongxue looked around warily, ready to deal with any charging camels at any moment.
The four quickly moved to a different location, away from the crazed camels.
“April is the mating season for camels, and that’s probably why they’ve gone crazy,” Chu Deng said, glancing at Jin Xiaoyue as she finished speaking.
"Oh, I see. Then there's really nothing we can do." Jin Xiaoyue, oblivious to Chu Deng's gaze, chimed in.
Chu Deng touched her nose. She originally wanted to give some of the extra cards to Jin Xiaoyue, but after all, there were also Meng Qiuhe and Bai Hongxue.
But since the three of them have been fighting side by side for so long, if Chu Deng were to rashly take out the scorecard, it might cause the other two to become dissatisfied.
Seeing that Jin Xiaoyue hadn't received her hint, Chu Deng simply changed her approach, "As long as we tame the lead camel, we should be able to calm the herd down."
“Okay! Let’s do it this way!” Meng Qiuhe was the first to raise his hand in agreement.
"Facing challenges head-on? That's cool, I have no objection!" Bai Hongxue stepped onto a rock, waved her right hand, and shouted, "Let's go!"
"But how do we identify the lead camel from a herd?"
Chu Deng looked at the camels that were still relentlessly chasing the examinees in the distance. "The largest ones?"
Half an hour later, Jin Xiaoyue, Meng Qiuhe, and Bai Hongxue looked at each other in bewilderment. Chu Deng, sitting on the fifth camel they had identified as the leader, said definitively, "That's right, this is the real leader!"
Having failed four times in a row, Meng Qiuhe expressed doubt: "Really? We each chose one, and you said the same thing about the one we just had."
Chu Deng slapped the camel's hump and nodded confidently: "I'm sure."
The three people standing below watched the man and the camel in silence.
Chu Deng raised an eyebrow and slapped the camel's hump again with a "smack".
The camel began to grunt and bellow, its deep voice carrying a peculiar warning.
The camels around them stamped their feet and shook their bodies in frustration, but gradually calmed down and began to slowly observe their surroundings.
"It really works! Dengdeng, you're amazing!" Jin Xiaoyue smiled happily.
No, something just doesn't feel right. Meng Qiuhe and Bai Hongxue watched the camel herd spreading outwards warily.
"Ding-deng-deng-deng-"
After the camels slowly walked a certain distance, they suddenly began to scatter and flee. The entire beach seemed to be experiencing an earthquake, with the ground shaking continuously and the billowing dust obscuring the vision of the group of examinees.
"What's going on? What happened?"
"Holy crap! Where did all the camels go? My scorecard!"
"Damn it, hurry up and chase after them! We finally found this place!"
The scene was chaotic, but Chu Deng sat calmly on the camel that had caused the trouble. "See? I told you it was the leader. The other camels obeyed its commands as soon as it called."
But the commands it issued were clearly not what we wanted!
Meng Qiuhe and Bai Hongxue couldn't help but complain inwardly, but after being swept over by Chu Deng's dark eyes, they immediately smiled and said, "Yes, yes, that's right, you're really amazing."
"Dengdeng, I want to ride a camel too. I've never ridden one before." Jin Xiaoyue didn't care about the camels that had run away and the scorecards. She just stared at Chu Deng sitting on the camel with bright eyes.
Chu Deng reached out and pulled Jin Xiaoyue up, "Sit tight."
"Mmm." Jin Xiaoyue nodded excitedly, then asked, "Dengdeng, can Meng Qiuhe and Xiaoxue come up together? We were too tired from running before."
"Okay, sure." Chu Deng looked at the two of them. "Do you want me to help you?"
"Thank you, Genie! I can do it myself, I can do it myself," Meng Qiuhe said shyly, climbing up using both hands and feet, his face turning red from holding his breath.
Why is this camel so tall? It doesn't look very conspicuous, but I didn't expect it to be so difficult to climb!
Bai Hongxue jumped up with one foot, placed her hands on the camel's back, and kicked her legs in the air. Although her posture wasn't very cool, she easily climbed up.
"Xiao Bai!" Meng Qiuhe, who had been holding back for a long time, finally couldn't help but ask Bai Hongxue for help.
Bai Hongxue grabbed his collar and pulled him up. Meng Qiuhe took a breath and stared straight ahead, but his ears turned red.
No way?! Is he the only one struggling like this?! Meng Qiuhe began to question the meaning of life.
"Let's go." After Chu Deng and the other two were settled, he patted the camel's hump again, and the camel neighed and ran forward. But after running for a short while, it suddenly stumbled and fell on the beach, tripping over its own legs.
With this fall, Chu Deng calmly jumped aside with Jin Xiaoyue, Bai Hongxue lightly bounced and landed on the ground behind, only Meng Qiuhe used the method of braking by landing face down, and ate sand again.
"Pah, pah, pah!" Before Meng Qiuhe, who was visiting the palace for the second time, could even mourn his own image, he looked up in surprise at the camel that was breathing heavily and chewing incessantly. "No way? The four of us have overpowered this camel?"
"No." Chu Deng sensed the camel chieftain's faint breath gradually disappearing...
"It's dead."

Two and a half hours later, after all the candidates heard this announcement, they saw the points leaderboard pop up on their personal computers, and the announcement continued to be broadcast.

"Congratulations! You really made the right choice this time!" Qian Wenchao cupped his hands in greeting to Huo Xuan.
"We just didn't ruin our reputation," Huo Xuan said with a smile.
On the leaderboard, Chu Deng was clearly in first place.
First place: Chu Deng, 236 points.
In the examination room, after Jin Xiaoyue got into the car, she sat next to Chu Deng and ate something while flipping through the pages on her personal computer, looking for her name.
"123rd place, Jin Xiaoyue, 65 points," Jin Xiaoyue read aloud in a low voice.
"Do you regret it?" Chu Deng rubbed her head. Later, after she and Jin Xiaoyue separated from the other two, Jin Xiaoyue made the same choice as in the first exam when faced with the scorecard.
"No regrets." Jin Xiaoyue swallowed the food in her mouth, but replied with a smile, "Because, um... this is my own test score. It's just, um... how should I put it..."
"I understand." Chu Deng looked at her gently as she racked her brains to explain her choice. "You've grown up."
Jin Xiaoyue stared blankly at Chu Deng's face, lost in thought for a long time, before suddenly bursting into tears.
She wanted to say that she would always remember the look in Chu Deng's eyes when he asked her to personally punish that thug.
She is not the kind of weak person who only shrinks back and struggles; she can break free from the darkness through her own efforts.
So, don't worry about me.
I will continue to follow you through my own efforts.
"There won't be a third time," Chu Deng sighed softly. "I will always be watching over you."
I watched you running towards me with all your might.
