Chapter 122 Let Me Hug You
Chapter 122 Let Me Hug You
On this day, the opportunity to meet finally arrived.
Ji Yan was going to attend an event in the next few days, which was relatively close to Nanzhou, so he came to find Ning Yi after the event.
Winter has arrived, and Ning Yi has been suffering from a cold for quite some time. She was happy to hear Ji Yan say that they could meet, but she was also worried that she might give him her cold.
However, Ji Yan naturally didn't think anything of it, so he went to Ning Yi's apartment before Ning Yi finished class.
For convenience, Ningyi had previously told him the password to the main gate.
After Ning Yi finished class, Ji Yan came to pick her up.
Ning Yi wore a mask, and after she got into the car, Ji Yan couldn't wait to hug her.
Ning Yi quickly stopped her, "I have a cold, wouldn't it be... if we get too close..."
Before Ning Yi could finish speaking, he reached out and pulled her into his arms.
"Don't be afraid, let me hug you." Ji Yan stroked her head and unconsciously rubbed his chin against the top of her head.
After holding her for a long time, Ji Yan finally let go of her.
"It's been so long, I've missed you so much." His eyes were fixed on Ning Yi, his tenderness barely concealed.
Ning Yi's lips unconsciously curved upwards, and she said in a soft voice, "I miss you so much too."
Hearing her distinctly nasal tone, Ji Yan asked again, "Are you feeling very unwell? Did you bring your medicine?"
Ning Yi nodded: "I brought it. My nose is still a little sore, but my throat is better."
Ji Yan had previously suggested that they stay in the apartment for one night, as he would have to rush back to the film set after dropping Ning Yi off at school the next day.
Then Ji Yan drove Ning Yi back to her apartment.
Ji Yan had already cleaned the house, and there was a bag of groceries on the table.
"I made pear and white fungus soup. I just finished making it before I left. Drink it while it's hot," Ji Yan said, then went to the kitchen and scooped a bowl out of the pot.
"You never know how to rest. You're busy with work all day long. Now that you have time to rest, you're busy with all this again," Ning Yi said.
Ji Yan handed the bowl to Ning Yi and replied, "Don't worry, I won't be exhausted so easily."
Ning Yi took the bowl from his hands, a hint of heartache flashing in her eyes: "I'll cook today, you should get some rest."
Ji Yan frowned slightly: "How can that be? You're still sick. It's nothing, cooking is just a meal, what's so tiring about that?"
He gently pushed Ning Yi to the sofa, gesturing for her to sit down.
"Drink the soup quickly to warm your stomach," Ji Yan said, looking at her.
Ning Yi took off her mask and started drinking the soup in her bowl.
Ji Yan suddenly walked to the side and took two bags from the small cabinet.
"What is this?" Ning Yi asked curiously.
Ji Yan placed the bag on the coffee table and took out a scarf from one of the bags: "It's getting cold, so I thought I'd give you a scarf."
Ning Yi placed the bowl on the coffee table, reached out and took the scarf from Ji Yan's hand; it felt soft and comfortable to the touch.
Ning Yi smiled and said, "Thank you, Ayan."
"Also, I've prepared a pair of gloves for you. I think they'll suit you well." Ji Yan took out another pair of gloves from the bag, which had cute little bear patterns on them.
Ji Yan then took out a small box from another pocket. He opened it and found a necklace with a gold peace lock inside.
"Do you like it? Let me help you try it on," Ji Yan said.
Ning Yi subconsciously touched the necklace Ji Yan had given her, which she was still wearing around her neck: "Why did you buy me another necklace?"
Ji Yan smiled slightly: "How can you complain about having too much jewelry? It's beautiful, so I wanted to buy it for you."
Then Ji Yan took off the necklace from Ning Yi's neck and personally put the peace lock necklace on her.
Ji Yan said with satisfaction, "It looks good."
Ning Yi smiled at him: "She is quite pretty."
After Ning Yi finished drinking the soup, Ji Yan took the bowl to wash it.
The two sat on the sofa, Ning Yi leaning against Ji Yan's chest. Ji Yan said, "Filming will wrap up in two months, and I'll be busy for a while before I have time to spend with you."
Ning Yi said softly, "You have your work to do, and besides, I can come visit you during winter break."
Ji Yan's tone carried a hint of guilt: "How could I bear to let you run around in the dead of winter?"
Ning Yi suddenly remembered something and said, "A big boss contacted me through our counselor and said that he wants me to be a violinist for a large commercial gala."
"I heard that the boss used to be a teacher at Nanjing University, and later started his own business. So this time he specifically wanted to select a few students from Nanjing University to participate in this party, saying that it would broaden our horizons or maybe create job opportunities for us."
Ji Yan replied, "You can participate in this and see. Everyone has witnessed Xiao Yi's strength, so it's natural that they would think of you."
Ning Yi chuckled lightly: "Don't flatter me, or I'll really become overconfident."
After a while, Ji Yan got up to prepare dinner. Ning Yi couldn't bear to let him get tired by himself, so she insisted on cooking with him.
Because Ning Yi had caught a cold, Ji Yan prepared to cook some light dishes.
They didn't cook much food, since the two of them would be going their separate ways the next day.
Ji Yan helped Ning Yi serve the soup and handed it to her, saying, "Eat more, you'll need to take your medicine later."
As he helped Ning Yi pick up some food, he said, "Do you still remember Fang Nan?"
Ning Yi thought for a moment and then nodded: "I remember, he's your good buddy."
“He’s getting married, probably after the New Year,” Ji Yan continued.
Ning Yi looked shocked: "So fast?"
Ji Yan took a bite of food and continued, "He's always been a carefree and irresponsible person. He had a girlfriend before, and she got pregnant, so naturally he had to take responsibility."
"So, he's the first among you to get married and have children?" Ning Yi said.
Ji Yan shook his head helplessly: "He should settle down. I hope he can have a stable family life after he starts a family."
Ning Yi continued, "Didn't the woman's family say anything? After all, she got pregnant before they were engaged or married."
Ji Yan replied, "The woman's family is of average means. I heard that Fang Nan offered a high bride price, so the matter was dropped."
"I've met that girl once. She's about a year older than you, and she'll be graduating from university soon."
Ning Yi's eyes widened in surprise: "A college student?"
Ji Yan nodded: "Yes, but the girl was willing, and her family didn't say much, so they're preparing to get married."
Ning Yi couldn't help but sigh inwardly, it seems that having money really does allow you to do whatever you want.
After finishing the meal, Ji Yan got up to clear the dishes.
Then they brought Ningyi hot water and took the medicine with them.
Ning Yi looked utterly dejected, and Ji Yan couldn't help but chuckle: "Who told you to catch a cold? It's getting cold, you should wear more clothes."
"Sweetie, take your medicine. I'll make you red date milk sago pudding later tonight. Haven't you been wanting to eat it?"
