Traveling back in time to take care of Sung Deok-sun

Chapter 3 Learning is my dream

Chapter 3 Learning is my dream

Just as Liu Shuyu was standing outside his own courtyard gate waiting, several families, as if by prior arrangement, came out of their homes together and walked over in a lively manner, with Deok-sun leading the way.

Deok-sun ran straight over, leaving Bora's mom and dad and their group behind in a flash.

When Liu Shuyu saw Deok-sun running over, he quickly gave her a slight bow and a smile, saying, "Hello, my name is Liu Shuyu."

"Liu Shuyu!" Deok-sun murmured for a moment, as if she had remembered him, and then said in a forced, ladylike manner, "Hello, my name is Sung Deok-sun!"

No one could have known that, in her future memories, Deok-sun would consider this meeting a source of lifelong gratitude...

"Hello"

"Hello"

"Hello....."

Amidst repeated greetings, the group finally entered the courtyard. Deok-sun, covering her mouth, ran out of the house, grabbed Yu-hui, and happily patted him on the shoulder.

"Oh dear, second sister, you're going to break my arm!" Yu Hui said, looking annoyed.

"Deok-sun," Bora's mother called out to Deok-sun, signaling her not to go too crazy.

Deok-sun grinned and ran to her side, saying, "Mom, there are so many dishes prepared inside! So many Chinese dishes I've never seen before! And most importantly, do you know what else is there?!"

Bora's mother gently tapped Deok-sun's head: "You little rascal, be more polite when you're at someone else's house."

"Oh..." Deok-sun pouted, but less than a second later, she became cheerful again.

Bora pouted, turned her head away, and didn't bother to look at Deok-sun. Her eyes were scanning the yard, and a fleeting look of envy seemed to appear in her eyes before she buried it away again. After all, she was the eldest daughter, and she wouldn't be like Deok-sun, showing her joys and sorrows on her face and trying to appear mature and sensible so that her parents could rest assured.

After everyone had entered, Liu Shuyu gently closed the door and quickly led them inside.

After exchanging polite greetings, everyone entered the living room.

Once inside, everyone fell silent, even the usually mature and composed Paula gaped open.

"Cough cough," Ms. Leopard was the first to recover, coughing twice, and everyone else came to their senses.

In an instant, Liu Shuyu felt more than a dozen beams of light shining on him, making him feel somewhat uncomfortable.

"Please, everyone, have a seat. These are all home-cooked dishes I made myself. I hope you enjoy them."

Everyone looked at each other in bewilderment. Paula's father, shoved by Paula's mother, sat down in his seat.

"Oh, Shuyu, can I ask what your family does?" Ms. Leopard asked.

After Ms. Leopard finished asking her question, everyone stared at Liu Shuyu, their eyes seemingly saying something.

Come on, tell us your story, and let us see how many mines you own!

Upon hearing Ms. Leopard's question, Liu Shuyu smiled slightly and slowly recounted the fabricated backstory the system had given him.

After all, the orphanage doesn't need another one of its members.

Upon hearing this, everyone either gaped or covered their mouths, and Deok-sun looked at him with a mixture of surprise and sympathy.

Even Paula's gaze towards him softened from that of a stranger to a gentler neighbor.

The sentimental Sunwoo's eyes darted left and right, as if he was thinking of his father and was feeling emotional.

Jung-hwan remained expressionless. Perhaps he kept this in mind, since he never knew how to express himself and always just did things silently.

Aze sat there with his usual expressionless face, and no one knew what he was thinking. He was a little shy around strangers, and even if he wanted to speak, he would never take the initiative to speak.

"Oh dear, Shuyu, I'm so sorry, Auntie's question was a bit offensive, please don't mind," Ms. Leopard said apologetically, using polite language.

"Oh, Shuyu, from now on, we'll all be your elders in this alley. You can come to us if you need anything," Shanyu's mother quickly said in a comforting tone.

Paula's father looked at him with a serious expression, his eyes seemed to be shining, and his back teeth were clenched. He seemed to be saying to himself that he understood this boy. He was like a real man who had pulled himself together after his parents passed away.

He seemed to see a reflection of his younger self in Shuyu.

"Hey everyone, cheer up! I'm used to it. I invited you all here today to get to know you all. I hope you enjoy the meal!" Liu Shuyu quickly called out.

"Hey, hey, that's right, Shuyu is a good kid, everyone shouldn't miss out on Shuyu's good intentions," Paula's mom quickly chimed in, wanting to do her part to break the current oppressive atmosphere.

With the efforts of the group, the situation was finally resolved, and Liu Shuyu brought out a case of Moutai and placed it in front of the three men.

Paula's dad's eyes widened instantly, and Paula's mom kept saying, "Drink less, drink less," in anger.

A long table was set up. The adults sat on one side, Deok-sun, Bora, and others sat on the other side, while Yoo Seo-woo sat in the middle, making sure he could keep an eye on both sides.

He was raising a glass to toast a group of parents on one side, and chatting away with Deok-sun and the others on the other. He even managed to exchange a few words with Taek and Bora.

Deok-sun happened to be sitting next to Yoo Seo-woo, so she leaned slightly towards his ear and asked:

"Shuyu~, did you really make all these dishes yourself?"

"Yes, that's right," Liu Shuyu nodded slightly.

"This, this, this, and this, are very delicious," Deok-sun said, pointing to the sweet and sour fish, sweet and sour pork ribs, and white fungus and lotus seed soup. She said the last three "very delicious" in broken Chinese, and then grinned at Yoo Seo-woo.

Looking at the delighted Deok-sun, Liu Shu-yu couldn't stop smiling and said, "If you like it, I can make it for you sometime~"

"Really!" Deok-sun's eyes seemed to light up as she immediately leaned over and said, "Then it's a deal! I'll come over when I have time, hehehe!"

She finished speaking with her signature smile on her face.

"Uh! Seo-woo," Sun-woo called out to him.

"Oh? Sunwoo, what's wrong?" Liu Shuyu replied.

"Did you just say you're going to register at our school tomorrow?" Shanyu asked.

"Yes, I haven't finished my studies."

“You’re so rich, it doesn’t matter if you don’t study, oh!” said Liu Donglong, the giant salamander, while gnawing on a chicken leg.

After a moment of silence, Liu Shuyu said, "Completing my studies is my dream, and besides, I enjoy learning."

Deep down, he hated studying and preferred to just lie around doing nothing, but to maintain a good image for the adults and to have a chance to tutor Deok-sun later, he had no choice but to bite the bullet and keep up the act...
