Chapter 177: The Arduous Journey of Finding the Way
After subduing the giant python, the group remained trapped in the labyrinthine cave, their spirits growing increasingly heavy. Xu Xian, weary and anxious, sighed, "This cave seems endless. When will we find a way out?"
Bai Suzhen gently patted Xu Xian's shoulder and comforted him, "Husband, don't worry. As long as we don't give up, there will always be a way."
Xiaoqing frowned, looking at the intricate passages around her, and said, "We can't keep going blindly like this. We need to think of a better way."
Pigsy, panting heavily, plopped down on the ground and muttered, "This old pig can't walk anymore. We've encountered monsters and pythons all along the way, I'm exhausted."
Broom Star cautiously observed his surroundings and timidly said, "Why don't we go back to where we started and try to find our way again? Maybe we can find new clues."
Liu Yu shook her head and said, "This is too much of a waste of time, and we might not even find the right way."
Venus stroked his beard, pondered for a moment, and said, "We might as well split up. That way we can search more areas and have a greater chance of finding an exit."
Everyone thought it was a good idea, so they split into several groups.
Xu Xian and Bai Suzhen walked slowly along what appeared to be a relatively spacious passage. A damp atmosphere permeated the passage, and water dripped from the walls. Xu Xian held Bai Suzhen's hand tightly, his voice trembling as he said, "Wife, I feel this place is eerie and unsettling." Bai Suzhen comforted him, "Don't be afraid, husband, I'm here."
As they walked, they came to a fork in the road. A cold wind blew from the passage on the left, while a pungent odor filled the passage on the right. Xu Xian hesitated, unsure of which to choose. Bai Suzhen closed her eyes, sensed the surrounding atmosphere, and said, "Let's go to the left; perhaps we'll find something new."
They entered the left passage, and after walking for a short while, they heard a strange sound, like someone whispering. Xu Xian stopped in fright, his face pale, and said, "Wife, what is that sound?" Bai Suzhen made a shushing gesture and cautiously walked towards the direction of the sound.
It turned out to be an injured little fox, curled up in a corner. Bai Suzhen felt pity and went over to heal the little fox's wounds. The little fox looked at them gratefully, then pointed ahead with its paw, as if to tell them that there was a path ahead.
On the other side, Xiaoqing and Liu Yu were in a group. They chose a narrow, dark, and damp passage, barely wide enough for one person to pass through. Xiaoqing walked in front, her sword poised to face any potential danger. Liu Yu followed behind, barely daring to breathe.
Suddenly, a giant spider fell from above and pounced on Liu Yu. Liu Yu screamed in fright, but Xiao Qing reacted quickly, slicing the spider in two with her sword. Liu Yu said with lingering fear, "Miss Xiao Qing, thank goodness for you, otherwise I would have become this spider's meal."
They continued on, only to find the passage growing narrower and narrower, almost impassable. Xiaoqing used magic to try and widen the passage, but found that magic was severely limited here.
Pigsy and Broom Star were a pair, and they stumbled along. Pigsy kept complaining, "What a terrible place this is! There's not even anything to eat." Broom Star followed cautiously behind, afraid that Pigsy would get angry and leave him behind.
Suddenly, a bottomless cliff appeared before them, with only a rickety wooden bridge spanning it. Pigsy looked at the bridge and hesitated: "I'm so heavy, can this bridge hold me up?"
"Why don't we give it a try? We can't stay here forever," said the jinx.
Pigsy gritted his teeth and cautiously stepped onto the wooden bridge. The bridge creaked and groaned, sending shivers down one's spine.
Just as they were about to reach the other side, the bridge suddenly collapsed. Pigsy and Broom Star fell into the abyss.
"Help!" Their cries for help echoed down the cliff.
Venus walked alone through a passage, the magical artifact in his hand emitting a faint glow. A mysterious mist filled the passage, making it difficult for him to see the path ahead.
Suddenly, a dark shadow swept past him. Venus turned around alertly, but saw nothing.
"What kind of demon dares to cause trouble here!" Venus shouted.
However, there was no response.
Will the group be able to escape danger and find a way out? This leaves a deep sense of suspense for the next chapter.
