Chapter Fourteen: The Perils of the Road Back
Liu Yu and Bai Suzhen, carrying the treasures and magical artifacts they had obtained from the mysterious island castle, embarked on their journey home. However, they hadn't gone far when they discovered that dark clouds were gathering in the sky and a fierce wind was blowing.
"The weather has become so strange; it's probably an ominous sign," Bai Suzhen said worriedly.
Liu Yu held her hand tightly and comforted her, "Don't be afraid, we'll handle it carefully."
Before the words were even finished, a bolt of lightning ripped across the sky, followed by a deafening clap of thunder. The waves surged violently, and their small boat rocked wildly in the turbulent waters.
"Oh no! This storm is coming on strong! We have to find a way to stabilize the small boat!" Liu Yu shouted.
Bai Suzhen used her magic to try to calm the waves, but the storm was too powerful and her magic had little effect.
Just then, a huge whirlpool appeared in front of them, and the small boat was pulled closer and closer to the center of the whirlpool by the powerful suction.
"Liu Lang, what should we do?" Bai Suzhen's voice was tinged with fear.
Liu Yu's eyes were firm as she said, "Suzhen, let's row hard together and try to get as far away from the whirlpool as possible!"
They rowed frantically, but the small boat couldn't escape the whirlpool's pull. Just as they were about to be swept away, Liu Yu suddenly remembered a magical artifact he had obtained from the castle—the Wind-Fixing Pearl.
He quickly pulled out the Wind-Stabilizing Pearl from his pocket and chanted an incantation. The Wind-Stabilizing Pearl instantly emitted a dazzling light, the power of the storm began to weaken, and the suction force of the vortex gradually decreased.
"Now's the time, row fast!" Liu Yu shouted.
Working together, they finally managed to paddle the small boat out of the whirlpool. However, before they could even catch their breath, a group of sea monsters leaped out of the water and attacked them.
These sea monsters were enormous, with ferocious faces, and wielded sharp weapons.
"You intruders, don't even think about leaving here alive!" the sirens roared.
Undeterred, Liu Yu and Bai Suzhen engaged in a fierce battle with the sea monsters. Liu Yu, wielding his sword, nimbly weaved among the monsters, each strike accurately hitting their vital points. Bai Suzhen, on the other hand, used magic to summon ice spikes and water spheres to attack the sea monsters.
After a fierce battle, the sirens gradually lost ground. But just as they were about to retreat, the sirens leader appeared.
The siren leader was larger than the other siren and exuded a powerful aura.
"How dare you harm my people! Today is your death day!" the siren leader roared, swinging his giant axe at Liu Yu and Bai Suzhen.
Liu Yu and Bai Suzhen joined forces to resist, but the sea monster leader's power was too great, and they were forced back several steps.
“This can’t go on; we must find his weakness,” Liu Yu said.
Bai Suzhen observed the sea monster leader's movements and suddenly noticed an old wound on his left waist.
"Liu Lang, attack his left flank!" Bai Suzhen shouted.
Liu Yu understood immediately. Taking advantage of a lull in the siren leader's attack, he leaped forward and stabbed at the leader's left side. The siren leader screamed and collapsed to the ground.
When the other sea monsters saw their leader defeated, they scattered and fled.
Liu Yu and Bai Suzhen finally escaped the sea monster's attack, but their small boat was also severely damaged in the battle and could no longer sail.
"It looks like we'll have to swim back to shore," Liu Yu said.
Bai Suzhen nodded, and the two jumped into the sea and swam towards the shore.
In the sea, they encountered various dangers: poisonous jellyfish and ferocious sharks. But with their strong will and superb magic, they escaped danger time and time again.
Finally, they swam to shore and collapsed on the beach, exhausted.
"We're finally back," Bai Suzhen said.
Looking up at the sky, Liu Yu sighed, "Yes, but this is just the beginning. There will be many more challenges ahead."
After resting for a while, they returned to their secluded dwelling with the treasure and magical artifacts. However, they found their house ransacked, clearly having been burgled.
"What's going on?" Bai Suzhen asked in surprise.
Liu Yu frowned and carefully observed her surroundings, noticing some strange footprints on the ground.
"It seems someone has their eye on what we brought back from the mysterious island," Liu Yu said.
Just then, a mysterious person appeared at the door.
"Hand over what you got from the island, or you're dead!" the mysterious man said coldly.
Liu Yu and Bai Suzhen stood up, ready for battle.
A new battle is about to begin. Will Liu Yu and Bai Suzhen be able to defeat their enemies once again and protect their treasures and magical artifacts?
