Chapter 252 Best Brothers
Chapter 252 Best Brothers
Su Yingxue looked up at Tan Zhengchu with teary eyes, and choked out, "I'm worried about Dabao and Liubao. They're so young. I don't know how they are now."
Tan Zhengchu pulled Su Yingxue into his arms, patted her back, and comforted her, "Don't worry, I already have news of them. We'll set off at eight o'clock to pick them up."
He paused for a moment, then continued, "Go back to your room and rest for a while to conserve your energy. We'll bring our sons home together later."
Hearing Tan Zhengchu's words, Su Yingxue felt a little more at ease. She looked up, a hint of expectation in her eyes, and asked, "Have you really found your sons?"
Tan Zhengchu nodded firmly: "Yes, it has been found."
Su Yingxue nodded slightly and said, "Okay, I'll listen to you. I'm going to rest."
She secretly vowed that once she brought her sons back, she would never let them leave her side again and would do everything in her power to protect them.
After watching Su Yingxue return to her room, Tan Zhengchu turned to Tan Zhengfan and asked with concern, "Zhengfan, how is Mom's mood now? This matter involves the past, and I'm afraid she will be stimulated and have another attack."
Tan Zhengfan quickly comforted her, "Brother, don't worry too much. Mom is doing quite well now. She loves your seven grandsons so much, and she'll definitely be able to hold on for their sake."
He then added, "I spend a lot of time with my mom and know her situation well, so she's really fine."
Tan Zhengchu breathed a slight sigh of relief upon hearing this and said, "That's good. I'll go upstairs to check on Mom first."
Tan Zhengfan called out to him, saying urgently, "Brother, I want to go with you to pick up my nephews too."
Tan Zhengchu looked at Tan Zhengfan with some surprise.
Tan Zhengfan explained, "I put aside my business in Micheng and came all this way because I wanted to fight alongside you. No matter what happens, I will stand by your side."
Looking into Tan Zhengfan's determined eyes, Tan Zhengchu felt a surge of emotion. He nodded and said, "Okay, I agree. You should go and rest too. We'll leave at eight o'clock."
When Tan Zhengfan heard that Tan Zhengchu had agreed, a bright smile immediately appeared on his face.
He was incredibly happy to be able to do this with Tan Zhengchu. He felt that at least Tan Zhengchu no longer treated him like an outsider, and that they would definitely be the best of brothers from now on.
……
Tan Xiangchen sat at the dining table, his gaze gently fixed on Liubao and Dabao across from him.
The two little ones ate with elegance and quietness, using their knives and forks just right, and without making a sound while chewing.
He nodded to himself, thinking that the two children were indeed well-mannered.
"Come on, eat more." Tan Xiangchen smiled, picked up a piece of braised pork with serving chopsticks and put it in Liubao's bowl, and added some vegetables for Dabao.
Liu Bao looked up and nodded politely, "Thank you, Grandpa."
Da Bao also gave a bright smile, "Grandpa, you eat too, don't just eat for us."
Tan Xiangchen smiled, a warm feeling welling up inside him. This was the most delicious meal he had eaten in over twenty years. He never expected to see his grandson at the end of his life, which filled him with immense excitement, as if a withered tree had been reborn and was now full of life again.
Li Yumei stood aside, quietly watching this scene, her smile deepening. She noticed that Tan Xiangchen's expression was much gentler than before, even carrying a hint of joy. She secretly thought that perhaps the arrival of these two children would truly improve his condition.
"As long as I can be by his side, I'll be content," Li Yumei murmured to herself. She couldn't help but think of Lan Yudie, the woman who had once haunted Tan Xiangchen's dreams. Compared to her, Li Yumei felt that at least she could still be by Tan Xiangchen's side, while Lan Yudie could only live on in his memories.
“As long as he’s alive, I’ll be happy.” Li Yumei’s gaze hardened. “No matter how he treats me in the future, as long as I can see him and hear his voice, I’ll be content.”
After dinner, Li Yumei walked up to Tan Xiangchen and softly suggested, "Xiangchen, would you like to take the children out for a walk? The air outside is very fresh."
Tan Xiangchen nodded, offering no objection. He genuinely wanted to chat more with his grandsons and learn about their lives and thoughts.
Liu Bao and Da Bao exchanged a glance and did not refuse. Although they were somewhat wary of Li Yumei, they did not dislike Tan Xiangchen. They could sense that this grandfather genuinely liked them.
“Okay, let’s go for a walk.” Liu Bao stood up, his tone calm.
Da Bao said with a grin, "Grandpa, please show us around. We're not familiar with this place yet."
Li Yumei looked at them with a satisfied smile. She turned to Xiao Hei and said, "You don't need to come along. Let the grandfather and grandson have a good chat."
Xiao Hei nodded and stepped aside.
Li Yumei watched Tan Xiangchen and his grandchildren leave the restaurant, silently analyzing the situation. She knew that Tan Xiangchen wouldn't see Li Yuzhu because he was afraid to face her, especially after the fire that burned his face, which made him feel even more inferior.
"That fire, though it disfigured his face, also gave me the opportunity to stay by his side for so many years," Li Yumei murmured to herself, her tone tinged with complex emotions.
At this moment, Tan Xiangchen led Liubao and Dabao into the garden. Surrounded by mountains, the area was sparsely populated, and the air was filled with the fragrance of grass and trees.
As Liu Bao walked, he looked around with a hint of curiosity in his eyes. He silently revised the topographical map he had drawn earlier, trying to complete the details of the surrounding environment.
Da Bao then asked directly, "Grandpa, where is this place? Why does it feel so remote?"
After confirming that Xiao Hei hadn't followed them out, Tan Xiangchen replied in a low voice, "This is a mountain in Futian, and there are almost no people living nearby."
Liu Bao frowned, a little puzzled. "The mountains of Futian? Then why does Grandma Li own property here and even have a highway built?"
Tan Xiangchen shook his head, his tone tinged with helplessness. "I don't know either. She's done a lot of things over the years, some of which I don't even know about."
Da Bao scratched his head and said with a smile, "Grandpa, although this place is remote, the environment is really nice, and the air is fresh too."
Tan Xiangchen smiled and patted Da Bao on the shoulder. "Yes, this place is indeed very suitable for quiet recuperation. However, if you feel bored, Grandpa can take you to other places for a walk."
Liu Bao shook his head, his tone calm, "No need, Grandpa. We'll just accompany you for a walk."
Tan Xiangchen looked at Liu Bao, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes. He could sense that although this grandson didn't talk much, he was meticulous and had a calm personality.
"Okay, let's walk around some more then," Tan Xiangchen said with a smile, feeling incredibly satisfied.
