Chapter 73 Surveillance
Chapter 73 Surveillance
"When did you change? You have someone else in your heart, don't you?"
I don't know if she was really delirious from her illness, or if she was taking advantage of her drunkenness to turn the tables.
Has it changed?
Having gone through so much, things have probably changed.
Things have become about weighing the pros and cons, unlike before when things were much simpler.
"You've changed too, haven't you?"
Upon hearing my words, I could sense that Song Yafei stiffened for a moment, though only for a brief instant.
She struggled to lift her somewhat weak body, staring coldly into my eyes, as if trying to see something in them.
But it seems to have disappointed her.
"So, Zhang Tian, we're just going to continue like this, right? And then we'll become a couple who are most familiar with each other but are strangers, is that what you mean?"
"Is this what you mean by being a good husband?"
Wasn't this something we agreed upon back then?
They were mindful of each other's reputations.
Moreover, she has already found Yu Chengliang outside, yet she still demands that I be devoted to her, which is against all her demands.
Isn't this too unfair?
This time, I did not choose to remain silent.
"Isn't this what we agreed on? To maintain appearances and I'll cooperate with your needs. But it's better if we keep things separate in private."
"Distinguish? Can you even distinguish? You said you would never be attracted to other women, but have you kept your word?"
Song Yafei was furious; anyone who didn't know the truth would believe it was true.
It seems that after spending so much time with Yu Chengliang, she's been infected by him and become unreasonable and irrational.
What kind of girl?
This has never happened before; I have no idea what she's trying to say.
Seeing that I didn't speak, Song Yafei struggled to get up, looking around as if searching for something, and almost fell off the sofa.
I quickly stopped the person, "What are you looking for?"
"Where's my bag? Where is my bag?"
I didn't pay much attention. I helped her up and then got up to look for her.
I saw her bag lying by the bedroom door.
After handing her the bag, she took out a stack of photos from it.
Before I could even see who was in the photos, she threw the stack of photos at me.
"You think you can just deny it and that's it? Take a look at what these are."
It's really unpleasant to have something thrown in your face. I didn't look too good, but I suppressed my temper and didn't make a fuss.
I picked up the photos one by one and looked at them.
There are photos of me and Xie Wenyao, photos of me and a female colleague from the studio, and even photos of me chatting with a nurse.
The photos seem to be revealing just how popular I am, and how awful I am.
But it's also quite ridiculous.
I really don't know how to explain this nonsense to her.
When I got really angry, I actually felt like laughing.
But I soon realized what the problem was.
The only way Song Yafei could have taken these photos is if someone had been watching me all along; otherwise, how could she have taken them?
"You actually sent someone to spy on me!" I glared at Song Yafei, furious.
Ignoring my anger, Song Yafei instead accused me, "You can always be so kind and cheerful with these people."
"Why is it that when it comes to me, I always have a cold face, without the slightest smile?"
She met my gaze without backing down.
She was so self-righteous, completely unaware of the slightest mistake.
I was so angry I was speechless.
"You think I've changed, don't you? But what about you? You never used to be so unreasonable, and you never misunderstood me."
Song Yafei coldly grabbed my chin, forcing me to look her in the eye.
"You felt tenderness from them? They were so obedient to you, so now you only feel disgust towards me?"
Her thought process is beyond my comprehension.
She was the one who cheated on me with Yu Chengliang first, but she insisted on dragging me into it, as if she had to pin the blame on me for the affair.
"Zhang Tian, I'm warning you. Even if you don't have me in your heart now, you can only be mine, and you'll be mine for the rest of your life until you die."
She used her full strength, tightening her grip on his chin.
I winced in pain, and just then, she pulled me close and kissed my lips.
Then came a series of extreme tearing and biting.
Her words filled me with bitterness.
Until death?
I'm going to die soon.
I can't even have a few months of freedom.
Why did we get to this point?
I don't understand, I really don't understand.
Under extreme pressure, I gradually lost my mind.
What started as an argument somehow turned into a physical abuse between us.
Even though she no longer has feelings for me, she always tries to find traces of her love for me.
They always leave their mark on me, tormenting each other.
Her hands roamed over my body, becoming increasingly rough and leaving many marks.
The sounds that escaped her lips were so alluring that I had no resistance to them.
At a time like this, she actually had time to bring up Xie Wenyi's welcome banquet.
Xie Wenyao's question at the welcome banquet—even at a time like this, she was still struggling with this issue.
She wanted to hear an answer from me again.
"Zhang Tian, what is the answer to Xie Wenyao's question? Tell me now, okay?"
We've come to this point, does this answer really matter that much?
She set me on fire, which sent shivers down my spine.
I couldn't resist the temptation in the end. I rolled over and pinned him down, thrusting into him forcefully, each time receiving a response.
Song Yafei was panting heavily from the ordeal, but she still didn't give up on the question she had just asked.
"Zhang Tian, what am I to you? We clearly agreed that you would only love me for the rest of your life, so why?"
"Why could you change your mind so quickly? Why could you give up on your feelings for me so easily?"
I have never given up.
But even if I said that, she wouldn't believe me.
I don't know how to make her believe me, or what does it matter whether she believes me or not?
When I brought her to the top again, I didn't answer her question.
I immediately turned away without looking at her, picked up the clothes scattered on the ground, and put them on.
As I dressed, I asked her, "Song Yafei, you always ask me what place you hold in my heart? And what about me? What am I to you?"
Perhaps not even worth a blade of grass.
I gave a wry smile.
I no longer expect to hear an answer from her. I am very annoyed and exhausted by her unpredictable attitude and actions.
My heart has slowly cooled down, almost, almost completely extinguished.
I even hope she can see the reality of the present.
I told her calmly and coldly, "It's something we agreed on long ago. We'll only cooperate when the other party needs to step in, and we won't interfere with each other in private. I hope you can abide by that."
"Mistaking perfunctory behavior for genuine feelings may lead to misplaced affections."
