Chapter 2 Li Xiangyi is no more in the world
Li Xiangyi felt pain and cold all over his body, his consciousness sinking into a chaotic and dark vortex, unable to move or regain consciousness. Ever since his senior brother Shan Gudao was killed by people from the Golden Mandarin Duck Alliance, he had been tracking down the murderer and had been too busy to pay attention to anything else.
Not long ago, Di Feisheng, the leader of the Golden Mandarin Duck Alliance, invited him to a battle in the East China Sea. He wanted to ask where his senior brother's body was now, and he also wanted to get him to hand over the murderer, so he agreed.
He had already won the battle and was interrogating Di Feisheng when a strange current surged through his body, quickly eroding him and overwhelming him. Before he could react, Di Feisheng stabbed him in the chest. With his last breath, he used all his strength to fight Di Feisheng to a draw, then lost consciousness and fell into the turbulent sea.
Li Xiangyi's eyes were tightly closed as he drifted with the current, floating and sinking, his consciousness trapped in a vortex, unable to escape. He didn't know how much time had passed; Li Xiangyi thought he would die like this, but he felt ashamed to face his senior brother on the road to the underworld. He hadn't found him, hadn't avenged him, and wondered if he would be cursed upon seeing him again. Time seemed to have passed for millennia, yet also as if it had only been a moment.
Someone nearby was whispering something, but the voice seemed so distant that I couldn't hear it clearly. Suddenly, I felt pain in my wounds, and my eyes felt incredibly heavy, making it impossible to open them. After a while, I felt myself being dragged, followed by waves of warmth throughout my body.
It seemed like a long time had passed before Li Xiangyi finally emerged from that chaotic state. When he woke up, his thoughts had not yet returned, and he stared blankly at the sky for a long time.
Coming to my senses, I sat up. My eyes fell upon a warm blanket covering me, and beside me lay a nearly burnt-out fire. Reaching out, I saw a pile of unfamiliar objects. Picking one up, I found it was an oval-shaped item. I could see inside; it was wrapped in an unknown material, probably water. The other objects were also wrapped in a transparent, unknown material—likely food.
Li Xiangyi didn't move a muscle. He simply added a few more pieces of firewood to the fire, sat down beside it to heal his wounds, and waited for the person who had saved him to come over so he could say goodbye.
Li Xiangyi was about to activate Yangzhou Man when he discovered that the unknown energy within his body was still there. His meridians ached unbearably, and Yangzhou Man was completely immobile. After a moment of internal energy cultivation, he coughed up a mouthful of blood and collapsed to the ground. "I've been poisoned," Li Xiangyi muttered to himself. "I'd better hurry back to Sigu Gate to find out what kind of poison it is so I can get an antidote as soon as possible."
After waiting for half an hour without anyone coming, Li Xiangyi, anxious to get rid of the poison, left first, thinking he would come back to thank his savior next time.
Dragging my battered body back, as I passed through the village, all I could see were residents cleaning up the dilapidated roofs and streets, with occasional complaints.
"This huge group of people went up the mountain, fought their way down, and only today has peace been restored."
"Isn't this a battle of gods where ordinary people suffer?"
"Gods fighting? What kind of gods are they?"
The residents' voices were filled with complaints and a sense of helplessness and sorrow.
When Li Xiangyi finally arrived at the entrance of Sigumen, he was greeted by countless Sigumen disciples lying on the ground, covered in bloodstains that had not yet dried. He could hear the painful cries of agony, and people were rushing around to provide medical assistance. All of this shocked Li Xiangyi.
Just as I was about to step inside, I heard a few familiar arguments around me, "I ask you, who caused the majority of the deaths and injuries at Sigu Gate?"
"That's right. If it weren't for the sect leader's competitiveness and stubbornness, how could we have fallen into the Golden Mandarin Duck Sect's trap and lost so many brothers?"
"Hey, when I said I wanted to avenge the Second Sect Master, every single one of you shouted it out in unison. How come you're all blaming the Sect Master now?"
“Anyone who dares to step out of this door, I will kill them.”
"Everyone, stop arguing. Although the current situation of Sigumen was caused by Li Xiangyi's arrogance, he certainly wouldn't want to see you fighting here. Now that Xiangyi is gone, Sigumen has suffered heavy losses. If it is to fall apart because of disagreements, it would be better to disband Sigumen today and everyone can go their separate ways."
A graceful and charming woman stepped forward and asked incredulously, "You want to disband the Four Gazes Sect?"
“With the two sect leaders gone and the people’s hearts scattered, why force ourselves to keep going? Don’t you dislike this place either?” The woman fell silent, and the others also stopped speaking.
Upon hearing this, Li Xiangyi felt as if his steps were weighed down by a thousand pounds, and he could no longer take a step inside. He stumbled and fell down behind the door.
Suddenly remembering a letter his fiancée, Qiao Wanmian, had given him before the great battle, he slipped in through the back door and easily returned to his room. He read it quickly, tears already staining the dust.
Not a single word was bad, yet every word carried a hint of resentment.
Deeply affected, Li Xiangyi staggered back to the East China Sea to find a way out, but before he even reached the East China Sea, he collapsed from the poison and died.
When he opened his eyes again, he was in a meditation room, with Master Wule of Pudu Temple sitting next to him. Li Xiangyi said, "Monk, you used this magic to snatch me back from the clutches of Yama, the King of Hell."
"What merit or ability do I possess? It is only because Sect Leader Li's life was not meant to end." He poured Li Xiangyi a cup of tea: "Sect Leader Li's meridians were all severed, and the poison of the green tea had already spread throughout his body. If it weren't for your unparalleled internal energy cultivation method, Yangzhou Slow, which protected his heart meridian and gave him a sliver of life, I would have been powerless to save him."
"The Buddhist arts are merely a method to reconnect the meridians, and the golden needles can only draw out the poison from the green tea that has entered the brain. They cannot cure poisoning. This old monk cannot restore Master Li's unparalleled skills. I can only barely leave you with 10% of your internal energy. These golden needles have also caused you a lot of torment, changing your appearance and figure so much that even old friends would find it difficult to recognize you."
Upon hearing about the poison of the green tea, Li Xiangyi knew it was the most poisonous substance in the world, with no antidote. After listening to what the monk at the back gate said, he said, "Li Xiangyi is no longer Li Xiangyi; this is fate."
"Sect Leader Li is injured in three meridians. He needs to return to the Four Gates Sect as soon as possible to seek treatment from his disciples and friends in the martial world. Otherwise, I fear his lifespan will be short." "Monk, how much longer do I have to live?"
"Barely managing to hold on for ten years."
"Ten years. You helped me get ten years of my life back from the King of Hell. It's not a loss. But please, monk, lie for me against your conscience. If anyone asks, say that you have never seen Li Xiangyi. There is no more Li Xiangyi in the world, and there is also Si Gu Men."
"I naturally agree to what Sect Leader Li has said."
Li Xiangyi took a step to walk out, and saw the words on the wall, "With a pure mind, lotus flowers bloom everywhere." "Monk, your Zen saying is very good, I understand." He then opened the door and walked out.
Li Xiangyi calmly walked forward: "Li Xiangyi has been buried in the East Sea. From now on, there will only be Li Lianhua in this world." With that, he walked leisurely out of the temple.
