Chapter 105 Ghost Scale Python
Chapter 105 Ghost Scale Python
As soon as the group landed in an open area in the mountains and forests and were preparing to repair the ark, the surrounding woods suddenly became silent, without even a sound of wind, and the atmosphere was so oppressive that it was hard to breathe.
"It's eerily quiet. Everyone, don't let your guard down," Mu Zhusheng said in a low voice, her eyes scanning the surroundings warily.
Xu Xiaoxiao gripped her sword tightly and nodded slightly. "Second Senior Brother, I have a feeling that something is watching us from the shadows."
The elder squatted down and carefully examined the ground, his brows furrowed. "The land here shows signs of being disturbed, as if some large creature has been lurking here, and its aura is very strange."
Just then, the ground began to tremble slightly, and a rustling sound came from the bushes not far away, growing louder and louder.
Suddenly, a huge python burst out of the ground. Its body was like a small hill, covered with scales that shimmered with an eerie light. Its triangular head was held high, its tongue flicking out, emitting a pungent, fishy smell.
"It's a Darkscale Python! This thing has thick skin and extremely potent venom. Everyone, please be careful not to get bitten!" the Second Elder shouted.
The monstrous python twisted its massive body and swam rapidly toward the group, uprooting trees and leaving a trail of devastation in its wake.
Mu Zhusheng made the first move, wielding her long sword and unleashing a sharp sword aura that struck the python, leaving only a faint white mark on its scales.
"These scales are so hard; they're difficult to penetrate with ordinary attacks," Mu Zhusheng said.
Xu Xiaoxiao was not to be outdone, and unleashed a set of exquisite sword moves. The sword shadows surrounded the python like blooming flowers, but they only slightly hindered its forward speed.
“This can’t go on; we need to find its weakness,” Xu Xiaoxiao shouted.
The elder formed hand seals and chanted incantations, and a golden light shield enveloped everyone. "Defend first, and I'll try to find its weakness."
The second elder took out several talismans from his storage bag and threw them at the python. The talismans exploded on the python, producing a cloud of smoke.
Taking advantage of the billowing smoke, Mu Zhusheng flew into the air, exerting all her spiritual power, her eyes fixed on the python, trying to find the gaps between its scales.
"I see it! Its scales are thinner at its seven-inch mark!" Mu Zhusheng exclaimed.
"Alright, let's focus our attack on its weak point!" the elder commanded.
The group readjusted their tactics. Xu Xiaoxiao and Mu Zhusheng attracted the attention of the Netherscale Python from the front, while the First Elder and Second Elder went around to the side and the other disciples looked for an opportunity to attack its vital point.
The Scaled Python seemed to sense everyone's intentions and attacked Mu Zhusheng and Xu Xiaoxiao even more frantically. Its tail suddenly swept out, and Xu Xiaoxiao was unable to dodge in time and was swept away, crashing heavily into a tree.
"Junior Sister!" Mu Zhusheng was extremely anxious and quickly flew to Xu Xiaoxiao's side.
Xu Xiaoxiao wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth. "Second Senior Brother, I'm fine. Don't worry about me. Deal with it first."
The First Elder and the Second Elder seized the opportunity to launch an attack. The Second Elder's spiritual power transformed into a giant light sword, which pierced towards the Seven-inch spot of the Netherscale Python.
The Darkscale Python, in pain, turned and pounced on the Second Elder.
The First Elder quickly used his magic to form an earthen wall in front of the Second Elder, blocking the python's attack.
Mu Zhusheng helped Xu Xiaoxiao up, and the two rejoined the battle.
After a fierce battle, the group finally found the weakness in the Netherscale Python's attack. Mu Zhusheng and the Second Elder launched a fatal blow at the same time, striking the Netherscale Python's vital spot.
The Darkscale Python struggled for a few moments before collapsing to the ground with a thud, raising a cloud of dust.
Everyone was panting heavily, and all of them had sustained injuries to varying degrees.
"Let's heal our wounds first. Who knows how many dangers await us in these mountains and forests," the elder said.
So they sat down on the spot, each took out a healing pill and began to circulate their internal energy to heal their injuries.
Looking at the chaotic scene around her, Xu Xiaoxiao said, "There have been so many unexpected situations along the way. I hope things will go more smoothly from here on out."
Mu Zhusheng comforted her, "Junior Sister, we will become stronger after going through these hardships, so don't worry."
As everyone healed their wounds, darkness gradually fell, and the surrounding woods were shrouded in darkness, as if concealing countless unknown fears.
Unknown beast roars echoed from afar, reverberating through the valley and sending chills down one's spine.
“This place is not safe to stay any longer. We must repair the ark and leave as soon as possible,” the Grand Elder said, standing up with a solemn expression.
The Second Elder nodded in agreement, "However, the ark is severely damaged and repairing it will not be easy. It will take some time. Let the disciples who know how to refine weapons stay behind to repair it first."
Looking at the damaged ark, Mu Zhusheng said, "I know a little about weapon crafting, so perhaps I can be of some help."
Just as everyone was preparing to begin repairing the ark, they suddenly heard a melodious flute tune.
The flute music was ethereal and eerie, as if it possessed a magical power that gradually made people lose their senses.
"There's something strange about this flute music! Everyone, guard your minds!" the Grand Elder shouted, while simultaneously circulating his spiritual energy to resist the influence of the flute music.
Xu Xiaoxiao covered her ears and frowned as she said, "Second Senior Brother, this sound seems to be coming from over there. We seem to have encountered it before." She pointed to the depths of the woods, where a faint light was flickering.
Mu Zhusheng looked in the direction she pointed. "Whatever it is, we have to go and see. We can't let it cause trouble here."
So, the First Elder left a few disciples to continue guarding the ark and doing what they could to repair it, while he, along with Mu Zhusheng, Xu Xiaoxiao, and the Second Elder, headed toward the direction of the flute sound.
The deeper they went into the woods, the clearer the flute music became, and the surrounding trees grew denser, their branches and leaves intertwining to almost block out all the moonlight.
The ground was covered with tangled vines, and one would often trip over them while walking.
"This place has an eerie atmosphere, everyone be careful," the Second Elder warned.
Suddenly, an open space appeared ahead, and a person dressed in black robes stood there, playing a flute that emitted a ghostly light.
Around him, countless green eyes flickered in the darkness; they were a pack of spirit wolves controlled by the flute music.
"Why have you outsiders trespassed into my territory?" the man in black robes asked coldly, stopping his playing.
The Grand Elder stepped forward, clasped his hands in greeting, and said, "We are disciples of the Returning Heaven Sect. We were passing by when we were disturbed by your flute playing. We hope you will stop this behavior."
The man in black robes sneered, "Return to Heaven Sect? I don't care what sect you are. This mountain forest is my territory. You have disturbed the creatures here, so you must pay the price."
Mu Zhusheng said, "We did not mean to disturb you. We are just repairing the damaged ark and will leave once it is repaired."
The man in black robes refused to listen to any explanation. "Hmph, then leave your ark behind as compensation for the creatures here."
Xu Xiaoxiao said angrily, "How can you be so unreasonable? Why should we give you the Ark?"
The man in black robes waved his hand, and the spirit wolves bared their teeth and pounced on the group. "Then don't blame me for being impolite!"
Left with no other choice, everyone drew their swords to fight back. Mu Zhusheng unleashed the powerful spiritual energy of the Nascent Soul stage, and streaks of sword energy swept towards the spirit wolves like a whirlwind, repelling many of them.
Xu Xiaoxiao also engaged in close combat with the spirit wolf. Her sword techniques were flexible and varied, and every strike hit the spirit wolf's vital points.
Although the First Elder and Second Elder were elders of the Huitian Sect, their cultivation levels had been stuck at the late Nascent Soul stage. The two joined forces to cast spells in an attempt to break the black-robed man's control over the flute music.
The elder chanted incantations, and a golden rune flew into the sky, transforming into a beam of light that temporarily suppressed the magic of the flute music.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, the Second Elder rushed towards the man in black robes, his spiritual power transforming into a long whip, which he lashed out at the man.
The man in black robes dodged the Second Elder's attack with a swift movement and continued playing his flute, as more spirit wolves surged in from all directions.
"This can't go on, we have to subdue him first!" Mu Zhusheng shouted.
Thus, the four cooperated with each other, with Mu Zhusheng and Xu Xiaoxiao holding off the spirit wolves in front, while the First Elder and Second Elder attacked the man in black robes with all their might.
After a fierce exchange, the Grand Elder finally found an opportunity. A powerful sealing spell flew towards the black-robed man, enveloping him, and the flute music stopped abruptly.
The controlled spirit wolves instantly regained their senses and fled.
The man in black robes, trapped within the seal, still spoke menacingly: "You will not succeed! The master of this mountain forest will not let you go!"
Mu Zhusheng stepped forward and said, "We have no intention of offending you. As long as you stop causing trouble, we will leave once we have repaired the ark."
The man in black snorted coldly and said nothing more.
The group returned to the ark and sped up the repair process.
As dawn broke, the ark was finally repaired. They boarded the ark and continued their journey to the Returning Heaven Sect, hoping the journey ahead would be smoother.
