Zombies: Cultivating Immortality at Maoshan, Becoming Stronger by Doing Nothing

Chapter 939

Chapter 939

"Yes, I'm scared. I have a wife, children, and parents at home. Please spare my life!" the masked man pleaded.

Ling Yanyan remained silent for a moment, then finally nodded and said, "Alright, I won't kill you for now. But you must do something for me."

The masked man nodded repeatedly: "Please give your orders!"

"Sprinkle this powder in the woods three hundred feet to your southeast." Ling Yanyan tossed a porcelain bottle to the masked man.

"Yes! I'll take care of it right away." The masked man took the medicine bottle and quickly disappeared.

"Phew!" Ling Yanyan breathed a sigh of relief, secretly thinking how lucky he was. He was just lucky to have been alert, otherwise he would have definitely suffered a great loss.

Immediately, Ling Yanyan coldly scanned the surroundings and said, "Since you want to play, then let's have some fun."

After saying that, Ling Yanyan leaped out of the garden and headed towards the woods to the west.

After a while, Ling Yanyan arrived at the edge of the woods on the west side. He looked up at the woods in front of him, his eyes slightly narrowed, and murmured, "Is it here?" With that, he stepped into the woods.

The closer Ling Yanyan got to the woods, the heavier his heart became. Although he had anticipated the possibility of danger, he hadn't expected it to be so great.

The woods were quiet, except for the occasional night breeze.

Ling Yanyan stopped and listened carefully, and surprisingly heard the roar of a zombie.

"Zombies? Really?" Ling Yanyan wondered.

A low growl sounded.

Ling Yanyan looked in the direction of the sound and was immediately startled. There, a gaunt skeleton, four feet tall and wearing bronze armor, was lying on the ground, looking up at Ling Yanyan with a sinister smile on its lips.

"Holy crap, there really are zombies!" Ling Yanyan was shocked and turned to run away in a panic.

The zombie was fast; it caught up with Ling Yanyan in an instant, reaching out to grab his neck, intending to crush him into a meat patty.

Ling Yanyan hurriedly activated his internal energy to defend himself.

He pulled out a stack of talismans and threw them at the zombie, then turned and ran.

The zombie was not afraid of the talisman at all. It opened its mouth full of fangs and teeth, bit the talisman to pieces, and then pounced on Ling Yanyan again.

"Damn it!" Ling Yanyan cursed and turned to keep running.

The zombie was too fast; Ling Yanyan was no match for it.

Just as Ling Yanyan was preparing to fight to the death, the zombie suddenly froze, then let out a painful howl, and slowly collapsed.

"Haha!" Ling Yanyan was overjoyed and immediately stopped and walked over to the zombie to investigate.

The zombie was pitch black, covered in tough scales, and emitted a strong, foul stench. A crossbow bolt was embedded three inches deep in its chest.

Ling Yanyan picked up the crossbow bolt and examined it for a moment, then exclaimed in surprise, "What a powerful crossbow bolt!"

"Huh?" Ling Yanyan raised an eyebrow, seemingly somewhat surprised.

Ling Yanyan glanced at the crossbow, then at the zombie, shook his head, and muttered to himself, "Looks like you should be dead."

After saying that, Ling Yanyan turned to leave.

"Whoosh!" The zombie's hand suddenly sprang up and slammed hard against Ling Yanyan's back.

"Hmm?" Ling Yanyan retaliated with a punch, striking the zombie's claw.

"Bang!" The zombie was sent flying backward.

The zombie's hand was broken.

The zombie roared, struggled to its feet, and charged towards Ling Yanyan.

"You're asking for death!" Ling Yanyan shouted coldly, kicking the zombie in the chest.

"Thump!" The zombie's chest caved in, and it flew more than ten feet away again, falling into the pool and splashing water everywhere.

Ling Yanyan slowly retracted his right leg, frowning as he stared at the zombie.

The zombie swam around in the pool and then slowly climbed back up.

"He's still alive!" Ling Yanyan frowned slightly, walked to the zombie again, stepped on the zombie's chest, and asked, "Tell me, did you kill Boss Li?"

"Roar! Roar!" The zombie glared angrily at Ling Yanyan, roared twice, and then charged forward again.

The zombie charged at Ling Yanyan again and again, each time being knocked away or having its limbs broken, never to rise again. Moreover, whenever the zombie got up, Ling Yanyan would stomp it down hard.

Gradually, the zombie's arms and legs broke, and it could no longer get up. It could only lie in the water and wail in pain.

Ling Yanyan crouched down, coldly looking at the dying zombie, and asked, "Tell me, who sent you?"

The zombie made a low, guttural sound, but did not respond.

Ling Yanyan glanced at the zombie with a cold look, stood up, and walked towards the southwest.

"Roar!" The zombie let out a mournful roar as it watched Ling Yanyan's retreating figure.

Ling Yanyan stopped in his tracks upon hearing this, turned to stare at the zombie, and said in a cold voice, "You better not make me angry, or I'll stew you tonight!"
