Chapter 333: The Awakener Arena, Final Purchase Before Leaving
As soon as they saw that notification pop up, almost every player around the trio suddenly rushed forward toward the arena with excitement in their expressions, not wanting to miss the fights.
Meanwhile, Leon simply looked at Celeste and Emilia with a questioning raise of his eyebrow, and the three of them silently agreed to go check it out.
It might be risky to show up there since the guardians might notice Leon and try something, but to be honest he assumed that they already knew he was in this district anyway, so who really cared at this point.
"We will be getting out of this place soon anyway," Leon said quietly, more to himself than to the girls.
And so, with the crowd of excited players surging forward around them, Leon and the two girls headed toward the [Awakener Arena].
It took around thirty minutes of pushing through the crowd, but they finally managed to find a decent seat in the massive arena, and what followed after the first fight began was something impressive.
"Damn," even Leon was slightly shocked at the sheer intensity of the battles unfolding before his eyes.
The guardians were fighting at a level he had not seen from them before.
The way the arena worked was actually very simple: anyone could register to fight inside of the arena against the guardians, and the battle ended once one of the two fighters died in combat.
Of course, whoever died inside the arena was immediately revived afterward, and that is how the guardians could survive and keep fighting even if they lost a match.
But seeing it all unfold in front of him showed Leon the true level of those guardians, because they were far more powerful in these fair fights than he had expected from his brief confrontation with them.
’And yet they were completely panicking in front of my [Forbidden Spell], barely able to keep their composure,’ Leon’s grin widened as he watched the current fight.
When they fought an opponent they knew was fair and within their ability to defeat, they were extremely strong.
But when they battled something impossible, something like [Oblivion Meteor] that could wipe them out no matter what they did, they panicked.
Leon did not feel like fighting in this arena himself, as he had said before, both because he wanted to leave this place soon and also since he genuinely did not have the strength to beat these guardians in a fair fight yet.
He much preferred watching how THEY fought and what abilities they used, so he could learn their patterns for the future.
After around a dozen fights though, the event seemed to end because there were no more fighters willing to step into the ring.
"I finally understand why people are so excited about this place now," Celeste’s eyes sparkled with enthusiasm, "This is absolutely amazing to watch!"
"I think it also makes other players want to get stronger so they can compete here themselves," Emilia added thoughtfully.
"Yeah, even though only one person managed to win their fight out of the twelve that happened tonight, everyone seemed happy just to watch."
The reward for winning was unknown to them, but it had to be something good based on how eager the fighters were, and Leon was sure of that.
Overall, the [Awakener Arena] was a genuinely interesting place that Leon would probably visit again.
"Alright," Leon clapped his hands as the group exited the arena and stepped back out into the cool night air, "Let’s get out of here and go spend some coins before we leave."
He headed back to the [Market] section of the [Awakener Association] and bought the [Bone Shuffle] skill book for fifteen million eternal coins and the [Pet Consumption Crystal] for ten million eternal coins.
That basically cost the entirety of what he had gained from selling all his items, but Leon was not too bothered by it because these items would help his companions grow stronger.
The girls seemed more nervous than he was as he grabbed each of the items from the pedestal and paid for them.
"I don’t have enough money left for the other items you wanted," Leon shook his head apologetically, "But as I said before, it should be fine, we will find other things in the next domain."
[Bone Shuffle (Ancient Skill): Use your magic to summon bones from the ground to pierce your target, there may be several ways to use this skill based on the shape of the bones.]
[Pet Consumption Crystal (Mythical): Give this crystal to a pet right after an evolution to enhance their powers even further, do note that there is a risk.]
He gave the skill book to Emilia, who learned it immediately right there on the spot, and he gave the crystal to Celeste, who stored it safely in her inventory.
"Pyra is going to evolve very soon based on her experience bar, so this crystal will be really useful," Celeste’s eyes sparkled with excitement, "Though what’s the risk that the description mentions...?"
"No idea," Leon answered truthfully with a shrug, "I guess we will find out when you use it, but it cannot be THAT bad... I think."
An item that rare and that cost this much being risky for pets was something Leon had never heard of before, so he was pretty confident it would be fine.
And now that he knew there was such a useful item in this market, he would definitely return if he ever managed to hatch the [Primordial Dragon of Chaos] and needed evolution items for it.
In fact, this entire [Market] section was a place that Leon simply could not afford to let go of or forget about, because it was incredibly valuable.
Across all the higher domains he had seen so far, it might be the place that held the most items at once that he had ever encountered, especially ones that you could actively buy with coins rather than needing to grind for.
If Leon had the time and patience, he would have surely loved to explore every single floor of this place to know everything it held for future reference.
But he did not want to do that right now, at least, not yet.
"Hold my shoulders," Leon asked the girls with a warm smile, and they immediately understood that it was finally time to leave this place behind.
After so long in [Higher Domain #3] and managing to all get much stronger together, it was finally time to leave it behind and move to other places.
