Chapter 403 Strict Defensive Deployment
Chapter 403 Strict Defensive Deployment
Night fell over the valley, the moon looming through the clouds like a watchful eye, ever watching over this silent land. The wind rustled the leaves, as if even nature itself was holding its breath for the coming battle. The entire camp had begun its intense defense deployment. Ye Wan stood high in the camp, surveying everything before her, a mixture of nervousness and calmness in her heart.
Time was running out for this upcoming battle, and the only thing they could rely on was the solid defense line before them. She took a deep breath and turned to look at Xie Linchuan beside her, "Is everything ready?"
Xie Linchuan's face was expressionless, but his eyes held a cold determination. He raised his hand and pointed around, whispering, "The trenches have been dug, and the traps have been set. Every entrance has been defended, and there are sufficient forces in front, behind, and on all sides."
"Very good." Ye Wan nodded. "Remember, we must ensure that there are no omissions. Once the enemy attacks, any small gap could become a breakthrough point for our complete collapse."
Xie Linchuan smiled slightly, his tone calm but reassuring: "Don't worry, I will personally check every blind spot to ensure that there is no room for error."
As soon as they finished speaking, they both looked toward the team members surrounding the camp. Everyone was busily making final preparations. Each member meticulously checked their weapons and tactical equipment, and they were busy yet methodically going through their assigned tasks. The night's work, which should have been exhausting, seemed like a mission for them, and a gleam of determination shone in every one of their eyes.
"Captain Li, deepen the trench on the east side. The enemy is likely to bypass our defense line through that path." Ye Wan walked towards Captain Li who was giving orders, speaking in a clear and organized tone.
"Understood, Captain Ye." Captain Li nodded and immediately organized the team members to carry out the order.
Meanwhile, Xie Linchuan led the core team in heavily guarding every entrance and exit. This was especially true on the south side of the camp, where the terrain was relatively open and the enemy might choose to launch a strong attack. Xie Linchuan directed his team to set up several rows of traps and ambush points, ensuring that any approaching enemy would be immediately exposed to the fire.
"This position needs concealment the most." Xie Linchuan pointed to a dense jungle. "We need to make the enemy think there's no defense here, and then launch a fatal attack when they get close."
His words, though brief, carried an undeniable sense of intimidation. The players nodded and began adjusting their defensive positions according to his instructions.
As night deepened, the starry sky became picturesque, and the bustling atmosphere in the camp remained undiminished. Ye Wan and Xie Linchuan inspected every corner of the defense line, ensuring that no task was overlooked. Her mind was sharp, her vision as eagle-like as a falcon. Whenever she passed a spot, she could always detect potential risks and immediately assign the team to make adjustments. Xie Linchuan always provided silent support behind her, silently saying nothing, but his eyes gleamed with a deep understanding of the battle and endless trust in his team.
Their work was relentless, and the camp's defense system gradually took shape. Deep trenches crisscrossed the perimeter of the camp, traps hidden within them, and out of sight were sentry posts, guarded day and night by members of the team in shifts.
"Captain, the reserve team has been deployed in the rear." Suddenly, another team member hurried over and reported to Ye Wan.
"Very good." Ye Wan nodded. "All reserve team members must remain alert. If there is any emergency, they must quickly support the front line."
Xie Linchuan walked over to Ye Wan, looked at the defenses around her, and said softly, "Do you think our defenses are tight enough?"
Ye Wan stood there, her eyes growing more resolute. She glanced across the camp and came to an answer. "I think this is enough. Although the enemy is powerful, we possess a flexibility and intelligence they cannot imitate. Every trench, every trap, every sentry post is a line of defense we have built with blood and sweat."
"Yeah." Xie Linchuan was silent for a moment, then spoke in a low voice, "But we can't let our guard down. The enemy is likely to attack at the most unexpected moment. Any negligence could ruin everything we have."
Ye Wan took a deep breath and nodded. "Don't worry, we're ready. No matter how the enemy attacks, we will not retreat or shrink."
As the two continued their patrol, a faint sound suddenly came from the distance. It was footsteps. Ye Wan and Xie Linchuan exchanged a glance, instantly alert. The team members also immediately stopped their work and took full precautions.
"Someone is approaching!" a team member shouted in the distance.
Ye Wan and Xie Linchuan immediately ordered the team members to take their positions. The entire camp instantly became silent, and all the members were like invisible ghosts, lying in ambush in their respective positions, waiting for the enemy to arrive.
But surprisingly, those sounds were not the enemy's footsteps, but information reported by scouts outside the camp - no abnormalities were found in the enemy's movements for the time being.
"Sure enough, still no movement." Ye Wan frowned, feeling a little relieved, but her heart was still hanging. The enemy wouldn't give up so easily. They must be watching from the dark, looking for a breakthrough.
Xie Linchuan's gaze remained as cold as ice, steady and calm: "Continue to increase patrols. Especially on the east and south sides, maintain high vigilance."
Ye Wan nodded. "Continue to strengthen the reserve team's vigilance. If the enemy makes any move, the reserve team must quickly provide support."
The entire team was once again on high alert. Although no trace of the enemy had surfaced, Ye Wan knew this night would not be peaceful. Their defenses had been built like a solid fortress, but the true test had just begun.
The wind blew through the trenches, bringing a hint of chill, as if nature was reminding them that the prelude to the battle had begun.
