Chapter 170, Part 11: I'm sorry
"Yi-yi, I'm sorry."
Can I hug you?
Chi Ruiche traced Jiang Yi's face with his palm, his gaze fixed on her face with an almost greedy and obsessive intensity.
Jiang reached out and removed Chi Ruiche's protective mask, then moved to the side and patted the empty space.
Slowly climbing up to Chi Ruiche's waist.
Chi Ruiche paused, took off his cumbersome coat, and lay down on the bed with Jiang Yi in his arms.
Jiang Yi didn't speak. She simply slowly climbed up Chi Ruiche's waist.
Chi Ruiche understood, and then tightened his arms around Jiang Yi. Jiang Yi buried her head in Chi Ruiche's chest, listening to his heartbeat, and neither of them spoke.
Chi Ruiche felt the real presence. Perhaps because he hadn't rested well, his mind relaxed and his breathing gradually became calm.
After a while, Jiang Yi patted him. He had his eyes closed, his mask had slipped down to below his nose, and there was a dark circle under his eyelashes. Even in his deep sleep, he still held onto Jiang Yi tightly.
Jiang Yi slowly spread out half of the small blanket, afraid of waking him.
When Abu arrived, the two were hugging, but Chi Ruiche's mask looked a bit funny. Abu chuckled and closed the door.
Lu Haotian stepped out of the elevator carrying his things, one hand in his pocket. "Abu?"
Abu made a shushing gesture, then jogged and pulled Lü Haotian back into the elevator.
"Weren't you with Xiao Si? Where did you go? Do you know what a big thing just happened?" Abu asked seriously.
Lu Haotian's usually calm face showed panic. "What happened? I'll go check it out."
Abula replied to Lü Haotian with a sigh, "Everything's alright now. The boss is inside, let's go too."
"what's up?"
“Just now, Xiao Si ran to the rooftop all by himself and stood right there. This is the 25th floor. If no one had seen it, it would have been too late for us to atone for our sins.”
Abu was still shaken; if he hadn't happened to hear the old woman calling for help and hadn't been so eager to join in the fun, he wouldn't have dared to think about it.
"Lu Er, I promised Brother Yang I would look after Jiang Yi. I sent you a message saying I would switch with you later. How could you leave without permission?" Abu, unlike his usual joking self, scolded Lu Haotian with a stern face.
Lu Haotian lowered his eyes to conceal his emotions and said softly, "Xiao Si wanted to eat peaches, so I called them to send some over, but the security guard at the inpatient department gate wouldn't let me in, so I went downstairs to get them."
"I made sure Xiao Si was asleep before I left."
"Then why did it take you so long to appear?" Abu stared intently at Lü Haotian, as if to confirm what he had said.
"I met Chi Chengting."
A thought flashed through Abu's mind, but before he could think it through, he mentioned Chi Chengting's name and asked urgently, "Is he the only one? Didn't Chi Chengling come out too?"
"When Chi Chengyu was imprisoned, he hit his head. The Chi family arranged for him to be released on medical parole, and it was at this hospital," Lu Haotian said calmly.
"Grandpa Chi can't just stand by and do nothing."
"The person was still unconscious when they arrived and was isolated in the emergency ward on the first floor, where they were being watched by designated personnel."
Abu scoffed, "You must have discovered something else."
Lu Haotian took out his phone, and a familiar woman was sitting in the emergency room lobby.
"Li Binbin's mother? Didn't the person who came report that she was at home and hadn't gone out?" Abu checked carefully; the photo was clear.
“I think she must have heard the news that Chi Chengyu was released on medical parole. Once Grandpa Chi intervenes, Chi Chengyu is very likely to be released without charge.”
Lu Haotian calmed down, his gentle tone softening, "Let's help her."
"Beep—"
The elevator arrived at the underground parking lot, the door opened, and Lü Haotian was completely different from his usual self; his voice sounded unusually cold and menacing.
"The boss instructed us not to act rashly. The plan has been set up. The two of us just need to slip away. As for Chi Chengyu, someone else is more anxious than us." Abu said with a lazy, half-smile.
Chi Chengting and Chi Chengling stood side by side. Chi Chengling lifted the blanket, his pupils slightly darkening. "Stop pretending, brat. You can wake up now."
On the hospital bed, Chi Chengyu couldn't help but laugh. His pleasant voice was laced with a chilling undertone. "Second brother, I'm hungry. I want to eat something."
Chi Chengyu jumped up, leaned against the pillow, and rubbed his stomach. "I can eat a whole cow. Second brother, hurry up and have them send it over."
"You still have the appetite to eat? Right now, no reputable lawyer in Xijing dares to take your case, which means you could face up to ten years in prison." Chi Chengling's eyes were stern and unfathomable.
Chi Chengyu poked his ear with his index finger, completely ignoring his words. "Big brother, I was able to get out today, how could I possibly go back in? Just tell me how you need my cooperation."
He was really panicked a couple of days ago, but now that he's out safely, it's just a matter of time. His grandfather can't just abandon him.
"That woman is outside now. As long as she keeps quiet, everything will be fine."
The three men exchanged glances and burst into unrestrained laughter. The woman outside the door seemed like a small beast, waiting to be torn apart by them bit by bit.
