Chapter 289: Rebirth in the Illusionary Realm and the Secret Realm of Space and Time
Chapter 289: Rebirth in the Illusionary Realm and the Secret Realm of Space and Time
Lily and her friends have just escaped from the Phantom's maze. Although they have successfully found the key to the exit, they are full of questions. Why did the Phantom appear at this time? What exactly is the "real challenge" he mentioned?
"We should take a break and clear our minds," Silver Wing suggested, a hint of uneasiness flickering in his eyes.
"But what exactly is the 'real challenge' that Phantom just mentioned?" Fatty looked confused, "Are we falling into another trap again?"
"No matter what, we must remain vigilant." Lin Ye said calmly, "Perhaps the phantom just wants us to be suspicious, but we can't be passive because of this."
Just as everyone was preparing to take a short break, the surrounding scenery suddenly became distorted. The familiar environment became blurred in an instant, like a crumpled piece of paper that had become completely different when it was unfolded again.
"What is this?" Lily was shocked.
The scene around them turned into a huge and complex mechanical device, with gears, chains, pendulums... all these ancient mechanical parts were running in an orderly manner, making crisp clicking sounds. What was even more strange was that these mechanical devices seemed to have life, as if they were monitoring their every move.
"Welcome to the 'Secret Realm of Time and Space'." A steady voice came from all directions, without any emotional ups and downs.
"Who is talking?" Lin Ye drew out his sword and looked around sharply.
"My name is 'Time and Space Guardian', and I am the guardian of this secret realm." The voice continued, "You have entered my territory. If you want to leave here, you must pass the test of time and space."
"Another test?" Ah Pang almost collapsed. "Why do I feel like we are always being tortured by various tests?"
"You will find that the real test has just begun." The voice of the Spacetime Guard was as cold as iron. "Here, time and space will no longer be what you are familiar with. You must pass through the cracks in time and space and find the real exit."
"We haven't rested enough!" Apang complained with a sad face.
Lily took a deep breath, knowing that she had no choice but to face the challenge head on. She clenched her sword and said firmly to her companions, "We have no choice but to keep moving forward."
They navigated this vast mechanical maze, taking each step carefully. As they went deeper, the passage of time seemed to become more unpredictable, with seconds sometimes lasting a day and minutes feeling like an eternity.
Suddenly, a lightning-like shadow flashed past their eyes, and then Lin Ye's sword swung down fiercely, but only hit the air.
"What is that?" Lin Ye asked vigilantly. It was obvious that the shadow just now was not an ordinary illusion.
"It looks like a living creature." Silver Wing narrowed his eyes, trying to catch more clues between the constantly changing mechanical gears.
"Don't tell me there are any time and space monsters in this place." Ah Pang said fearfully.
At this moment, Lily suddenly felt a breeze coming from behind her. She turned around quickly and found a young man in tattered clothes standing not far away with a mysterious smile on his face.
"Are you looking for an exit?" The boy's voice had a strange sweetness.
"Who are you?" Lily asked vigilantly. She had a vague feeling that the boy's background was not simple.
"My name is Shi Ying, and I am a servant of the Spacetime Guardian." The young man said with a smile, "I can take you to the exit, but you must complete my request."
"What request?" Yin Yi asked coldly.
"It's very simple." Shi Ying walked to an ancient clock and pressed it lightly. The hands of the clock spun rapidly and finally stopped at twelve o'clock. At the same time, a huge door suddenly appeared in front of them.
"Behind this door is your only exit." Shi Ying's voice was somewhat proud, "But to open it, you must solve the mystery of the clock."
"The mystery of the clock?" Fatty frowned. "We have solved so many puzzles just now, what is this one?"
Shi Ying smiled and explained: "This clock represents everything you have experienced here. Each period of time corresponds to a memory. You need to find the lost memory fragments to restore the clock to normal."
"Memory fragments?" Lily suddenly understood, "Could it be that everything we experienced in this maze is related to our memories?"
"That's right." Shi Ying nodded and said, "You have been walking here for a long time, but you have never noticed that some memories have disappeared from your minds."
"So, we have to retrieve these memory fragments?" Lin Ye frowned and said, "This is not easy."
"As long as you can find these fragments and put them back together, the mystery of the clock will be solved, and you can leave here safely." After Shi Ying finished speaking, his figure gradually faded and disappeared into the air.
"It looks like we have to split up again," Lily said, "but this time, we have to be extra careful."
They decided to divide into three groups, each responsible for an area. In the process of searching for memory fragments, each of them experienced a different time and space memory, some were childhood memories, some were past adventures, and even some strange scenes that they had never experienced before.
Lily returned to her childhood home in a dark time and space. She saw her parents' smiles and heard their caring words, but these scenes gradually became blurred, as if they could disappear at any time. She knew that her memory was gradually disappearing. She had to find the memory fragments as soon as possible to save everything.
Silver Wing found himself in an unknown battlefield, surrounded by burning flames and flying arrows. He remembered that this battle took place before he became a warrior, but when he recalled it carefully, he found that the details of the battle were becoming more and more vague, as if the memory was being pulled out of his brain.
Lin Ye came to a strange city. The streets and buildings he had never seen before made him feel strangely familiar, but he couldn't tell exactly where he was. Just as he was confused, a vague figure appeared in front of him. It was a person who looked almost the same as him.
"Who are you?" Lin Ye asked vigilantly.
"I am the other side of you, a self you have never known." The figure said slowly, "We used to be one person, but now we have become two people."
Lin Ye felt dizzy and realized that this place was not only affecting his memory, but also changing his self-perception.
Finally, Lily, Yin Yi and Lin Ye all found their own memory fragments and pieced them together. When they returned to the clock and put the memory fragments into the clock's hands, the hands began to move slowly and finally stopped at twelve o'clock.
"Very good, you succeeded." Shi Ying appeared again, with a barely perceptible sense of relief in his voice, "You have passed the test of time and space, and you can leave now."
"There won't be any other accidents this time, right?" Apang asked vigilantly.
Shi Ying smiled slightly and did not answer. He just waved his hand gently, and the huge door slowly opened, revealing the outside world.
Lily and her friends finally left the secret realm of time and space and returned to the real world. Although they don't know what challenges they will encounter in the future, they know that as long as they unite, they will be able to overcome all difficulties.
