Chapter 288: Phantom and the Mysterious Man
Chapter 288: Phantom and the Mysterious Man
After returning to reality from the world of candy puzzles, Guan Lili and her companions got a brief respite. However, the passage of time felt strange, as if everything was speeding up. The pace of the whole world seemed to be twice as fast as usual, as if some force was quietly speeding up their adventure.
"It feels like the whole world is urging us to act faster." Fatty rubbed his hands nervously.
"Indeed, time passes faster than usual." Lin Ye frowned and looked at his watch, only to find that the time on it was blurry.
"Maybe we have triggered some kind of space-time mechanism." Silver Wing pondered, "But this may also be the key to our finding the next clue."
Just as everyone was confused by the situation, the palace door was suddenly illuminated by a strange light. In the light, a figure slowly emerged. It was a man wearing an ancient robe, his face was blurred, as if hidden in a layer of mist.
"Hello, brave adventurers." The man's voice was like the echo in a valley, full of mystery.
"Who are you?" Lily asked warily.
"I am one of the guardians of this world, named 'Phantom'." The man replied calmly, "I came here to help you find the next direction."
"Help us?" Ah Pang looked doubtful, "You are not here to cause trouble, are you?"
The phantom smiled and waved his hand, and the space around them changed instantly. Lily and her companions found themselves in a strange maze. The walls of this maze seemed to be made of pure light and shadow. With every step, the maze would change, as if it would never be possible to get out.
"This is Phantom Trail, a constantly changing spatial maze." Phantom explained, "Only by finding the key hidden deep in the maze can you find the exit."
"Another maze?" Lin Ye sighed helplessly, "There's no candy to help us solve the puzzle this time."
"We have to be careful. Phantom Maze is not as simple as an ordinary maze." Silver Wing said cautiously.
"Don't worry, this kind of small situation won't bother me." Ah Pang walked confidently in the front, but after just a few steps, he was bounced back by an illusory wall of the maze.
"It seems it's not that simple." Ah Pang touched his nose and smiled awkwardly.
Lily felt the fluctuations in the space around her and knew that this maze was not a simple combination of physical space, but was controlled by some mysterious force. She closed her eyes and tried to use mental induction to find the right direction. Suddenly, the walls of the maze began to flash with strange light, and a flashing symbol appeared in her mind.
"What is that?" Lily was surprised to find that the symbol seemed to guide her to find the exit of the maze.
"Follow me." Lily led her friends and moved forward in the direction indicated by the symbols. Although the maze kept changing, she remained calm and followed the guidance of the symbols.
As they gradually went deeper into the maze, the surrounding environment became more and more bizarre, and even some incredible scenes began to appear. For example, an upside-down river in the sky, clouds running on the ground, and boulders floating in the air. All of this made them feel confused and puzzled.
"This is simply a fantasy world." Lin Ye muttered, "Are we dreaming?"
"No, these are all illusions, but the maze is real." Silver Wing explained, "The power of Phantom Tracking is to use illusions to interfere with our judgment of reality."
"The more confusing something is, the less you should believe it," Lily reminded.
However, just as they were about to reach the center of the maze, the illusion suddenly became crazier. The entire maze seemed to be torn apart by some force, the space began to distort, and huge cracks appeared in front of them.
"This...what should we do?" Ah Pang looked at the collapsing space around him in horror.
"Keep moving forward! Don't look back!" Lily said firmly.
They quickened their pace, crossed the space cracks that were about to collapse, and finally reached the center of the maze. There stood an ancient stone tablet with a complex rune carved on it, and a glowing key was embedded in the center of the rune.
"That's the key to the exit!" Silver Wing said excitedly.
Lily stepped forward and prepared to take the key. But just as her hand was about to touch the key, a phantom suddenly appeared and blocked her way.
"Wait, do you think you can leave easily after getting the key?" Phantom said coldly.
"What do you want to do?" Lily asked warily.
"This key is not simple." Phantom smiled slightly, then he stretched out his hand and lightly tapped his fingers. The key instantly split into five different pieces and flew to five different directions of the maze.
"You!" Lin Ye asked angrily, "You are deliberately making things difficult for us!"
"Your test is not over yet." The phantom said, "To leave here, you must find these five fragments and put them together again."
"Another test?" Ah Pang almost collapsed. "How long will this last?"
"Don't worry." Lily said calmly, "We can split up and find the fragments as soon as possible."
So, Lily and her friends began to act separately to find fragments scattered in the maze. Everyone faced different challenges and illusions. Some had to fight their own fears, some had to face illusions in the illusion, and some had to solve complex puzzles.
As Lily walked alone, she suddenly met a mysterious visitor, a woman who looked almost exactly like her. The only difference was that there was a deep sadness in this woman's eyes.
"Who are you?" Lily asked warily.
"I am your other side, a side of yourself you have never known." The mysterious woman replied calmly.
"What do you mean?" Lily was confused.
“I represent the shadow deep in your heart, the anxiety and fear hidden in your heart.” The woman said slowly, “If you want to break this illusion, you must face the shadow in your heart, only then can you get the last fragment.”
"I won't be fooled by these unreal things!" Lily said firmly.
The woman smiled slightly, then slowly disappeared into the air, as if she had never existed. And where she disappeared, the last piece of the key appeared.
Lily picked up the fragments and reunited with her companions, and they eventually succeeded in combining the five fragments together to form the complete key.
"It seems that you have passed all the tests." The phantom appeared again, with a hint of approval in his tone.
"Can we leave now?" Apang asked impatiently.
"Yes." Phantom nodded, "But remember, this is just the beginning. The real challenge is still ahead."
As the phantom disappeared, the maze began to dissipate. Lily and her friends returned to the real world. They knew that the journey ahead would be more difficult, but they had never been as determined as they were now.
"Let's go, new adventures are waiting for us." Lily said with a smile.
